To Chris Locke - Let me know where your seats are for Ray in Miami, and I'll
let you know ours. Maybe we can say hi. You're so right - It is a great
venue, and I can hardly wait!
Stephen Foley - Worst Ray rhyme? How about "Oooh, so uncouth, excuse me, is
this your tooth?" Always been my most unfavorite... Still love him anyway,
though.
Andres Palacios - I like your Kinks Top 10. Nice, and very eclectic. I have
tried, but always get up to 20 or 25 before I give up.
Uh oh - forgot Mindless Child of Motherhood on our Dave list. I knew there
were more. Now Ken is going to k-k-k-kill me... "Strangers on this road we
are on..." I hear crickets.

My Kinks fantasy is Ray and Dave doing Storytellers. Dave would accompany
Ray, and Ray would accompany Dave. The boundaries are endless. Trading
song and trading stories! What could possibly be better. Stripped down,
no act (as some times the Kinks shows were). Get it out in the open
boys-The world will be a better place for it. The Kinks fans would go
wild--Dave has plenty of material to be a headliner. Take a good look
around, the MISFITS are everywhere.

I was about 10 or 11 when the Kinks were on SNL. I remember it was pretty
sloppy, but great to see them. My older brother, who knew more about such
things (he was 18 then), said, "I think they're drunk." The sloppy and
somewhat confused medely was what got him thinking that. David TinkerOhio,

Isn't that cheating to rhyme a word with itself? Ray does that in
other songs, too. Still, I love it. What's wrong with me?

Just for the fun of it, I love the "vomit" lyric!!! Ray said on a
interview that he always wanted to sing about vomit...I'm not sure where
I heard it, but it was some interview.
And I'm still trying to figure out what a "Budda Butt" is, from the great
song, "Peace In Our Time." (Just kidding )
Also, Mr. DJ on XM40 played "I'm In Disgrace!!!"

Subject: Favorite KinKs song vote...
I wasn't going to vote at all because it was just way too difficult a decision to make...but I ended up voting for 20th Centruy Man. I'm not 100% sure it is my favorite KinKs song ( and I'm not sure I could ever pick just one anyway ) BUT what it is, is a song that sort of combines everything I love about the kinks and what they mean to me all in to one encompassing package, their reflection on the world and society, the rebellious aspect, the we're not gonna take it all lying down, and not like everybody else sentiment, the Village Green theme that modern life? and technology is our worst enemy,...and so on and so on with out going in to a thesis I'll stop here...and on a musical level it has that bluesy country-fied English beginning and then just explodes in to that magnificent powerful rock ending. In Ray's solo touring years he has tuned that song in to one hell of a show stopper and crowd pleaser. And even during the KinKs shows ( especially the later 70's and 80's shows ) it gave Dave a lot of room to showcase some of his legendary guitar riffs and solos in a different way than songs like Superman, YRGM or ADAAOTN did. And speaking of crowd pleasers, I have been trying to persuade Ray and the band members to do " Father Christmas " at the last 4 shows up North with the band next month, tis the season to Rock & Roll and that song has never ceased to get eveyone piled up at the stage when it was in the kinks set lists, and even on Dave's early solo tours! I also suggested to Ray and Bill Shandley to maybe think about doing " Thanksgiving Day " at one of the first few shows on the tour in Florida being it starts the day after Thanksgiving. However if Ray asks me again about a specific request like he id last time...and I froze and blurted out ' Fancy " which he did end up doing?at the Beacon show for me. This time I am all prepared for " This Time Tomorrow " or my signature song " Rock & Roll Fantasy "...I'm getting tired of the Hardway !!! LOL....
FranK
ps...I put messages out on the Official Ray Davies forum the official KinKs forum and the official Dave Davies forum about sending votes in to the kps digest for their favorite kinks songs.

and psss Hey KK from New Jersey, I hope you are trying to track down all the other SNL KinKs Videos and also the possible Don Kirschener show appearance and or the Mid-Night Special appearances. I could swear they did Starmaker and Money Talks on some combination of those shows?

Sue and I definitely had fun with this little project, despite our current
geographical 1300 mile distance from each other as well as our shared
stubbornness surrounding one particular song that "I" wanted on our top 10 list;
namely, "Milk Cow Blues", which, despite it being attributed to Sleepy John
Estes, is perhaps my favorite "Dave" song after our mutual love of "Strangers".
Most of the live recordings of Dave's solo shows that I have heard, do have
"Milk Cow Blues" and Dave seems to love this old Estes' song when he plays
it. My favorite Kink's LP is Kontroversy (I know many Kinklings would probably
not pick this LP out as their favorite Kinks LP) , but Dave's version of the
aforementioned song always had "This Strange Effect" on me and, in my very
biased opinion, ranks up there with "TTEOTD" okay, "Till the End of The Day"
as the most "powerful" Kontroversy songs. As an aside, Dave seemed to be a
true Ko-Kaptain of The Kink Kontroversy, if one just looks at the number of
songs Dave is the lead singer on.....
On the other hand, Susan and I did realize that we also were a bit remiss in
not even mentioning "Mindless Child of Motherhood" which Kink Kolleague, Dave
T. in Woostaaah, had the good sense to include in his Kollaboration of "Top
10 Dave Ditties".
Kudos to Dave T for that, and ,of course, Dave Davies, who made all of this
magic possible!

Sue and I definitely had fun with this little project, despite our current
geographical 1300 mile distance from each other as well as our shared
stubbornness surrounding one particular song that "I" wanted on our top 10 list;
namely, "Milk Cow Blues", which, despite it being attributed to Sleepy John

It was hard sending in one favorite Kinks tune for Neil's poll (and if asked
today it would be a different tune than the one I sent in), but coming up
with 10 favorite Dave tunes was kind of fun. Here's mine:
1. Visionary Dreamer
2. This Man He Weeps Tonight
3. Death of a Clown
4. Strangers
5. Livin' On A Thin Line
6. Love Gets You
7. Imagination's Real

This is manageable enough that I think I'll give it a try. I'll even try to
put them in order, although that's more of a crap shoot:
1. This Man He Weeps Tonight
2. Strangers
3. Death of a Clown
4. Mindless Child of Motherhood
5. Look Through Any Doorway
6. Living on a Thin Line
7. Bright Lights
8. Imagination's Real
9. Lincoln County
10. Fortis Green (but I much prefer the way he played it live, faster and
bouncier)
