I was updating my NPR: Live Concerts from All Songs Considered podcast
in iTunes when I noticed the following:
Ray Davies: The Kinks Choral Concert 12/23/09
For some diehard Kinks fans, the idea of mixing the band's classic
songs with a full choir had little appeal. One of those fans, All
Songs Considered host Bob Boilen, was dubious, before he heard the
results on the latest CD from Kinks frontman Ray Davies, The Kinks
Choral Collection. Boilen was part of a rapt audience at a Nov. 20
performance of the songs, recorded live in New York, by Ray Davies and
the Dessoff Chamber Choir. Hear that show in its entirety here.
This is still available in iTunes.

Hey Janet and everyone...
First, we've got a couple of options for New York screenings and we're
going to announce one for later this summer sometime soon. Same goes for
about a dozen other cities in the States.
Second, as far as DVD, we would love to sell them but we aren't licensed
for DVD yet. I hope we eventually will be licensed to sell DVDs or offer
digital downloads. We need to find some friendly DVD company that wants
to take us on and also work out a licensing agreement that will make the
math work. (My math is quite simple: Don't have me lose money!)

Does anyone on the list know if Geoff has sent out any of the
promotional material for supporting the film. I am really looking
forward to receiving the item that was going to be sent out at some
point. I have not heard anything and was curious if anyone else has
received anything yet. Thanks, Mike Goldberg

Marc, Joanne, and David, write your thoughts. I thought we all had a
blast.<<
Okay, Jill...Joanne and I got to the VFW hall after the showing of Do It
Again way before anyone else (Remember, we hadn't been to the movie. We
thought we were crashing a private party), so we got to sit in on the sound
check. Dave Simons was obviously in charge, but everyone else just seemed so
young! Too young to be Kinks fans!! Too young for them to be as good as they
were once they started playing!!!
There was a videographer trying to record the event, but I think he
decided that there wasn't enough light in the hall. When the Figgs arrived
Pete Donnelly helped with sound and then sat with us while he and Joanne
sang verses of a Dave Davies song to each other trying to work out the
lyrics.
The Muswell Hillbilly Band was great. They had horns (The Mike Cotton
Sound). The young man on the keys was especially good (The Baptist)....The
guitarist wasn't Dave (but who is?)... Everyone was enthusiastic and really
seemed to be having fun. They were almost having as much fun as we were!
Go see them if you have the chance.

Does anyone know where the video of the Kinks getting inducted to the Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame is?? The second part was taken down off Youtube so I
am told???
If anyone can find it or has it and can put it back up it would be
appreciated. It deserves to be there for other generations to see! And I'm
sure some of us won't mnd seeing it again!
