www.kindakinks.net/news-rumors.php
The latest issue of Goldmine magazine (April 9, 2010) has a 1-page
article titled "Dave Davies' 10 Life-changing LPs".
On the Hop Farm Festival facebook page, organizers confirm that Ray will
be playing there.
The LPs I mentioned last Friday are vinyl versions of upcoming "deluxe"
SHM CDs from Japan. I believe they are unrelated to the "deluxe" CD
reissues of Something Else and Arthur which are due for release in the UK
sometime this year. Eil.com has the track list for the Japan SHM CDs:
Something Else, VGPS and Arthur. The SHM CDs have bonus tracks, but I
believe the LPs only have the mono & stereo mixes of the albums but no
bonus tracks. The latest release date I've seen for the Japan SHM CDs is
June 23, 2010. [The "I" is Dave E.]
Steve Goldstein won that charity auction for a meet & greet with Ray in
Anaheim. He wrote about it and put a photo on his blog.

Just back from California, where I was lucky enough to be at Ray's
last show of the tour. Sorry I missed talking to Rob, but I did have a
chance to say HI to FranK and Andrea in the parking lot afterwards. I
spotted Eric Idle after the show, and had a chance to chat with Roger
Manning Jr (of Jellyfish).
I loved the 88 and bought a couple more of their CDs. My son was busy
getting the fourth member of that band to sign on their poster that we
bought when RD walked right past him! The Canyon Club was small and
intimate. I was about 20 rows back, standing right behind the sound
board. Excellent sound. The highlight for me was hearing a full
version of David Watts with the 88. Those guys looked so damned happy
to be up there with Ray, and their singer took the "And when I lie on
my pillow at night..." parts. The Kinks always have some of my
favorite backing vocals, and I just love it that " Ahhhh Ah Ah Ah
HEY!" part of David Watts.
The night after that I saw pop genius Jon Brion's emotional, eratic
show in Hollywood, where he nearly had a breakdown on stage. He pushed
himself to the limit, then for his encore, what did he play? An
absolutely gorgeous gentle version of Waterloo Sunset. Genius.

Subject: Duet thought
Knowing what a big Kinks fan Zooey Deschanel is, she would seem to be an
obvious duet choice for Ray. Imagine how perfect she would sound singing
Nothing Lasts Forever with Ray. Still, I'd much prefer him to perform new
songs with these special guests.

There is a mention of the Kinks in the Ben Stiller movie Greenberg. He
says "There is a great Kinks song named 'Australia' " when another
character is going to Australia.
Good movie about dysfunctional people. Kinks fans will love it!

My fifteen year old daughter in now listening to various music and
developing her own likes/dislikes , she informed me having heard "well
respected man" on the "Juno" soundtrack that the song had gained her
approval though she was still considering her views on other kink
material ! one bone of contention between us is her liking of and my
disaproval of the television programme "Hollyoaks" so two weeks ago
when one of the main characters on it suddenly pulls out a Kinks album
and announces to his friends "you have got to listen to this , Ray
Davies is a lyrical genius , a true poet." the prologue to the
programme was the same character sat on a houseboat with
"Wonderboy" blasting out from his music system . My daughter looked at
me and gave me a sheepish grin .No doubt when i am next critical of
the show she will use this to her advantage . Thanks Ray !!!

I just saw it yesterday and it opens with All day and all of the night,
ends with You Really got me and Sunny Afternoon in the middle.
Lots of Who and others that we all listened to in the 60's (Hang on Sloopy,
Friday on my mind, etc.).
Not a great movie but a heck of a lot of fun.
Especially when the movie opens and Philip Seymour Hoffman talks into the
mike as it is opening and ADAAOTN comes on.
I did a PPV with my son yesterday, worth the watch.
