Hello All,
Well, I ended up with an extra ticket for Ray's show at the Borgata in
Atlantic City, NJ on Feb 26. I'd like to find it a good home, if possible.
So, I'm not posting on any of the web sites, just here.
The ticket is Center Orchestra, Row L, Seat 203. My cost, including all
fees, added up to $52. I'd like to break-even, but am willing to consider
less for a good cause. If you're interested send your note directly to me
ASAP. Please refer to the subject above in your subject line.
Thanks, and hope to see folks I met there the last time (and others I've met
on the road).

Subject: Ray Tour and Peter Gabriel Cover
What, three shows in southern California and none in northern California/San
Francisco? Come on Ray, we've ALWAYS supported you up here! Come back, the
weather's fine! I guess I may have to be content with going to see The
Minks (actually, I'm hoping to do so at one of their upcoming gigs - I've
seen a few good reviews in these hallowed pages and another trusted source -
you know who you are - gave me a good first hand account of one of their
gigs in Oakland).
But, I'd like to be able to do both, so come on back to the Bay, Ray.
And on the subject of the Peter Gabriel cover that I posed a post or two
back - I had a dream. No really, I had a dream, and this scene was only a
small part of the dream - but I was on a plane and found myself sitting next
to Ray. And I asked him what Peter Gabriel cover he planned to do and
without hesitation he said "Family Snapshot". Then the flight attendant
told me to move to my real seat. Funny thing, dreams.
I had deduced the cover that Neil Young should do - since Gabriel is
covering Neil's (Young, not Ottenstein) "Philadelphia", it only makes sense
to me that Neil should cover Gabriel's song from the same soundtrack
"Lovetown". Makes sense to me anyway.

Subject: The Boxer
Nice to hear mention of "the Boxer" My favourite P. Simon song ,a
beautiful song . Seems im in the doghouse for criticising Iggy . Sorry
but ive heard so much unwarranted and ill informed criticism of Ray
and the Kinks over the past forty odd years that maybe ive become over
sensitive . Anyway what the eck "every dog has its day," As for
contradicting a christian ethos ? I simply make the point that Iggy
represents the new establishment. Mick Jagger when taking his
nighthood defended himself by saying that the establishment he was
once hostile too had become replaced by the establishment he was part
of, and he was right. My belief tells me that all establishments are
flawed to some degree ,such is the nature of Man.What makes me angry
is the self rightousness of some of the "flower power "generation who
have aquired , as Dylan sang "the disease of conceit" if that does
not apply to Iggy apologies offered. That Ray and the Kinks have for
the most part, been outsiders ,thus not receiving due praise .has been
a source of irritation. It has also contributed greatly to there
creativity. .At the end of the day it is only music ,but the part it
has, and probably always will ,played in influencing people and
societies cannot be denied .William Blake who Ray sings about in the
song "imaginery man" once said "You Shouldn'nt look with a piece of
glass, you should look through it " The KInks Have often done so .
the songs have been the tool.

Subject: The Doughboys pay their respect to the KinKs!
The Doughboys the late 70's and early 80's well known seminal garage rock
band from Central New jersey made up of members of other known bands opened
last night for my friend's new project who I went to see at Maxwell's in
Hoboken, New Jersey ( Maxwell's is New Jersey's equivalent to NYC's CBGB's
btw, and Dave as well as many other greats have played there over its long
rock & roll history, okay to make a long story short my long time good
friend and drummer for the Smithereens Dennis Diken has a current side
project ( one of his many away from the Smithereens ) called Bell Sound made
up of some musicians who have deep roots in the rock & roll world and
kommunity, he and they were supporting their new CD release that is Dennis's
personal project with his name on it called " Late Music " which takes many
of Dennis's major influences from Brian Wilson and the Beachboys, to the
Kinks and Who, The Move, and even a touch of the 4 Seasons to name but a
few.
Anyway I will discuss that more at a later time, but when I got there
just as the Doughboys were about to start and Before I got a chance to even
see or talk with Dennis, the Doughboys opened their set by ripping in to a
GREAT totally 101% rocking version of The KinKs " It's Alright " If you
can imagine the best "underground garage "band you can image attacking this
song with a fierce attack of rebellion and punk attitude then that's what
you got...standing at the front of the stage in my kinks tshirt made me
proud to be a kinks fan and from the looks of the faces of the guys in the
band they knew that I new what was all about, because I don't think one
other person in the crowd knew the song!
