You may have seen the recently announced Q Magazine Reader's Top 50 Best British Albums- we want to see if you agree or disagree with it. Do you really think Oasis deserve the top two spots? Where were The Kinks? We're trying to redress the balance- tell us your top 5 best British albums and be in with a chance of winning £50 iTunes vouchers! There's also an extra prize for the most original list (ie. none of the albums appear in Q's list). To enter (and to view the full top 50) go here: MY TOP 5 BRITISH ALBUMS ARE.....Good luck... and be original!

What a bad list... come on, 2 Keane albums in the top 20 and no Kinks, Cream anywhere in the d**n list... Exile on Main St. in 49th position, now talk about good taste...
My top 5:
1- The Beatles - White Album 2- Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here 3- The Rolling Stones - Beggars Banquet 4- The Kinks - Arthur (Or the Decline...) 5- Radiohead - OK Computer

Keane are great but not greater than CREAM or RS' Exile on Main St. The younger crowd is forgetting the oldskool.. or maybe a lot of them feel we need to move on. You like Beggars Banquet over Exile? Interesting.

Keane are a good band, but when this kind of list is done again in 20 years I doubt if they'll be there, whereas bands like The Beatles always will. The fact that there are no Kinks albums is nothing less than scandalous. There is no point me compiling my top 20, as it would be all Kinks and Beatles, and the order changes daily.

My list would sound suspiciously like yours, powerman. Something by the Who or the Stones might slip on there as well.

Safe to say the beatles and kinks would dominate my lists too. The order would be the only thing that changed.

It would take me a day or so to make a list of just British albums. I can predict that the top 20 would include 8 by the Kinks-Something Else, VGPS, Face to Face, Arthur, Lola vs Powerman, Muswell Hillbillies, and Kronikles, The Beatles Revolver, Abbey Road and White Album, Who's Next, and 4 Stones discs from their classic period of '68-'72 (Let it Bleed, Beggars Banquet, Sticky Fingers, Exiles). I would probably include Fleetwood Mac's Then Play On, and Pink Floyd's Wall, Dark Side, Collection of Dance Songs and Echoes. If I had room, I would try to get in Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms and Making Movies, but I would have others that would be pressing for spots, like Wheels of Fire by Cream, John Barleycorn by Traffic, and Smash Hits by Jimi Hendrix. I like the Morning Glory disc by Oasis, and the two Queen compilations, but not enough to put it or anything in the past couple of decades in the top 20. Arbitrary top 5: 1. Echoes, Pink Floyd 2. Sticky Fingers, Stones 3. Face to Face, Kinks 4. Who's Next, Who 5. Kink Kronikles, Kinks

Almost identical indeed. Lola vs Powerman and Beggars Banquet would be my next two. If I can base it on CDs, I might put the expanded Face to Face on top with Big Black Smoke, Everybody Else, Dead End Street and other stuff added on. Of course I prefer vinyl, but have backed up much of my music collection with CD versions and converted a lot of vinyl to CD.

That's cool. Who's Next and Sticky Fingers would be battling it out with Sleepwalker for my next two.........
