Hi to the members of this board. I just joined, though I've been a fan of the band since I was 15 and You Really Got Me hit the radio. I live in California and just retired. I was a R&R guitarist/teacher for seven years before I got married and had a family in the '70s. Now I write album reviews for an internet entertainment site, play music with friends and work on my collection of vinyl and CD music. The focus of much of the vinyl is British invasion and other '60s music, with plenty of '70s stuff. Pretty good catalogs of Kinks, Who, Stones, Tull, Pink Floyd, Rory Gallagher, and blues bands in the 4000 vinyl and CD titles. My favorite local live band, the Farmers, play about six Kinks tunes in their repertoire (Well Respected Man, I Gotta Move, Who'll Be the Next in Line, Apeman, etc) and my friends and I do at least five. I have all of the Kinks albums and many of the subsequent collections, but my favorite discs are, no surprise, the golden age from Face to Face through Hillbillies, along with Kronikles. I didn't care for much of the stuff on Soap Opera, Preservation Act 2, Percy, or Give the People What They Want (being honest). I took some getting used to the arena Kinks but like the later stuff (Low Budget and Phobia especially), but basically I'm old school. I remember teaching kids to play Lola, and telling them to not show the memeographed paper with the words and chords to their parents. My favorite Kinks songs are probably Powerman, Waterloo Sunset, and All Day and All of the Night.

The Farmers -- are those the guys who used to be called the Beat Farmers? I've heard great things about them.
