I believe Alice (Vincent Furnier) himself was born in Detroit but he moved to Phoenix, Arizona and most band members went to school together. So I guess that means

Eddie Cochran's song "Three Stars", a tribute to The Big Bopper, and Eddie's friends Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens, who had all died together in a plane crash just one year earlier, was released just two months before Eddie himself died in a limosine accident in 1960.
