Tomorrow will be a day for remembering all of the ways Tom brightened our days. Noisy, my thoughts are with you as well as Tom's family. Love to all.

I guess I don't deal with death too well. I know it must be tough to lose a parent. Hope you're doing well Noisy. I only met Tom once here in chicago for a Ray Davies show. He was so friendly and unassuming with everyone. He was so happy to be there seeing Ray. He stood right in front and was having a great time. I'm very glad I got to know him for the little time that I did. It's such a shame.

I still keep thinking a lot about TAG. I remember exactly what I was doing when I got told and how hard it was to face it.
We miss you a lot Tom.

You touched so many of us in a very special way and we are richer for the experience of knowing you, Good Major, even if it was only through your thoughts and words posted on these message boards.
Kinkdom misses you.

Love out to you, Noisy.
Tom is still in my heart and thoughts, too. What an amazing soul -- I'm so glad we got to know him a little bit before he passed from this earth.

I have Billo (Happy Birthday ) to thank for finding this thread as I checked out their profile which lead me to this touching memorial thread. I'm sorry I never got to meet Major Tom or even read his postings but he sounded like a great fellow. I enjoyed the 'Last Mintue Jam' youtube video; some great guitar licks in particular! I also enjoyed reading the postings of unfamiliar and current members. My heart goes out to noisyroom because I know how rough it is to lose a parent; I came within a wisker of losing my remaining parent early this year. It is even tougher for someone who loses a parent while they themselves (the child) are still really young. I hope life has since treated you well noisyroom! I also hope that I didn't violate any board etiquette; I know on some boards that it is a 'no no' to call up older threads like this. If so, I have confidence that everyone understands I did this out of respect.

Reviving old threads is wonderful, John -- especially this thread. I still think about Tom all the time.

I saw mention of a 'grey board' throughout this thread and I was just wondering what exactly that was; holly, uncleson, anyone?

That's the unofficial Ray Davies board -- which used to be official, back in 2005-6-7 when a number of us here posted on it. After a major kerfuffle involving a few out-of-line posters and the forum moderator, several of us decamped here in March 2007, when Ray distanced himself from the board. Then it became official again, and recently Ray "un"officialed it again. A few of us also post there occasionally, but this is still our main internet home.
Up in either the Welcome New Members section or the General Board section, there's a thread about visiting other related forums. There's a link there to the Ray Davies forum, if you want to check it out.
