Come Dancng blew the competition away, it was a land slide!
"The Kinks’ frontman Ray Davies, who was nominated in Hartnett’s category for making his musical writing and performing debut in the semi-autobiographical Come Dancing at the Theatre Royal Stratford East, is on hand at tonight’s event to collect in another category: the musical premiere was the hands-down winner for Best Off-West End Production. here is how Ray did on the award he was up for personally for The Dewynters London Newcomer of the Year I understand he was up against some really big names in this category but we gave it our best shot...I bet having the actual play win though was much more important to and for Ray anyway...
The Dewynters London Newcomer of the Year -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Josh Hartnett – Rain Man at the Apollo 29.4% Ella Smith – Fat Pig at Trafalgar Studios & the Comedy 18.2% George Sampson – Into the Hoods at the Novello 21.1% Joseph Mawle – The Last Days of Judas Iscariot at the Almeida 9% Ray Davies – Come Dancing at Theatre Royal Stratford East 14.8% Tarell Alvin McCraney – In the Red & Brown Water & The Brothers Size at the Young Vic & Wig Out! at the Royal Court Downstairs 7.6%

Fantastic news! (And doesn't he look sharp in that suit). I suppose it was too much to hope that anybody would regard Ray as a "newcomer" -- but the play's winning is a very good sign that it will have life in the future. HooRAY!!!
