Finn Brothers - Won't Give In Once in a while I return to the fold With people I call my own Even if time is just a flicker of light And we all have to die alone What does it mean when you belong to someone? When you're born with a name, when you carry it on? It means that I won't give in, won't give in, won't give in 'Cause everyone I love is here All at once, and I'll show you how to get here

Another from the Finn Bros/Split Enz - "I Hope I Never"
I fall apart when you're around, When you're here I'm nowhere, I can't pretend that I'm not down, I show it, I know it, I've been a fool more than once more than twice, I'm gonna move to a new town where the people are nice.
I hope I never, I hope I never have to sigh again I hope I never I hope I never have to cry again. I still to want to beam and smile, Happiness is back in style, I hope I never, I hope I never have to see you again. Again.
It should be possible I know, To see you without stress, But I can see I'll have to go, I'm changing my address, My urge to cry I have failed to conceal, Life is no fun when you're hunted by the things you feel.
I hope I never, I hope I never have to sigh again I hope I never I hope I never have to cry again. I'm for living, while you care, I'm an optimistic man, I hope I never, I hope I never have to see you again. Again.
I hope I never, I hope I never, I hope I never, never, never, never, never, never, I hope I never, I hope I never have to see you again.

The Zombies - Nothing's Changed
It's a mistake going back They tell me that nothing's the same ever again But when you walked through that door It was just like before Oh nothin's changed, no
When I saw you again, little girl Something stopped here inside And I wanted to hold you And tell you I loved you just like before
Oh oh This is just one day But one day's enough to start all over again Give me just one day and we will begin all over again You didn't mean to hurt me before, But you did, you did
But now you're sorry now, I know Oh you're sorry, I can see 'Cause when you saw me again You smiled at me then Like nothing's changed, no
Oh oh This is just one day But one day's enough to start all over again Give me just one day and we will begin all over again It's gonna be easy this time, I know, I know
Come on, just try me one more time I know it's gonna work out just fine Start all over, start all over again

Compliment - Collective Soul
Now, Ive taken the side Of a beautiful calm Can you see this disguise Fading to a resolve
And there it goes, my innocence While gathering up a compliment And here I lie with words to swear There's something more than the world out there The world out there
And hesitation compounds I've nothing left to sustain My worries here have allowed A momentary refrain
And there it goes, my innocence While gathering up a compliment And here I lie with words to swear There's something more than the world out there The world out there
And there it goes, my innocence While gathering up a compliment And here I lie with words to swear There's something more than the world out there
And there it goes, my innocence Im dying here for a compliment And here I lie with words to swear There's something more than the world out there The world out there The world out there

Jim Capaldi - Man With No Country Man with no country Just a guitar and a love that he sung He only wants to see Man with no country Walking along down long dusty roads He wants to stay ahead of everything He's got to see new horizons each day He'll never stay Man with no country Looks up and sees birds in the sky He wants to be so free to fly high Man with no country Never looks back to that place that he's coming from Something inside him always moving on Though he'll remember the moments of making new friends each day Still he won't stay Man with no country Comes into town and looks for a bar Somwehere that he can play his acoustic guitar The girl at a moment sees him and says "I'd like the way that you touch the strings Come play with me I'll give you everything" But he's such in other things that will set him so free That's the way he knows it's got to be And heaven is a long long way from where he stands He's a very lonely man But he's such in other things that will set him so free That's the way he knows it's got to be It's gotta be And heaven is a long long way from where he stands He's a very lonely man Ohhhhhh Man with no country Yeah Man with no country

When I was 15, I bought a single at the store, labeled 'Positively Fourth Street'. It had this song on it, by Dylan, and it was a great song. The tune was somewhat, maybe too similar to 'Like a Rolling Stone', and it didn't scream up the charts; it never made the top 50 and Dylan cut released the 'real' Fourth St tune a few weeks later, as an answer to the people who booed him at the folk festival when he went electric-it was a bigger hit and also a very good song. I have the original version of this on CD, but my mislabeled single of 'Please Crawl Out Your Window' , now worth hundreds of bucks, was stolen with my original Kinks and other records in a burglary in 1971. I especially love the lyric, 'If he needs a third eye he just grows it'
He sits in your room, his tomb, with a fist full of tacks Preoccupied with his vengeance Cursing the dead that can't answer him back I'm sure that he has no intentions Of looking your way, unless it's to say That he needs you to test his inventions.
Can you please crawl out your window? Use your arms and legs it won't ruin you How can you say he will haunt you? You can go back to him any time you want to.
He looks so truthful, is this how he feels Trying to peel the moon and expose it With his businesslike anger and his bloodhounds that kneel If he needs a third eye he just grows it He just needs you to talk or to hand him his chalk Or pick it up after he throws it.
Can you please crawl out your window? Use your arms and legs it won't ruin you How can you say he will haunt you? You can go back to him any time you want to.
Why does he look so righteous while your face is so changed Are you frightened of the box you keep him in While his genocide fools and his friends rearrange Their religion of the little ten women That backs up their views but your face is so bruised Come on out the dark is beginning.
Can you please crawl out your window? Use your arms and legs it won't ruin you How can you say he will haunt you? You can go back to him any time you want to.

" We're setting sail to a place on the map From which no-one has ever returned Drawn by the promise of the joker and the fool By the light of the crosses that burned Drawn by the promise of the wormen and lace And the gold and the cotton and pearls It's the place where they keep all the darkness you need You sail away from the light of the world on this trip, baby
You will pay tomorrow You're gonna pay tomorrow You will pay tomorrow
Oh, save me, save me from tomorrow I don't want to sail with this Ship of Fools, no, no Oh, save me, save me from tomorrow I don't want to sail with this Ship of Fools I want to run and hide Right now
Avarice and greed are gonna drive you over the endless sea They will leave you drifting in the shallows Drowning in the oceans of history Traveling the world, you're in search of no good But I'm sure you'll build your Sodom like you knew you would Using all the good people for your galley slaves As your little boat struggles through the warning waves But you don't, pay
You will pay tomorrow You're gonna pay tomorrow You're gonna pay tomorrow
Oh, save me, save me from tomorrow I don't want to sail with this Ship of Fools, no, no Oh, save me, save me from tomorrow I don't want to sail with this Ship of Fools, no, no
Where's it coming from Oh, Where's it going now It's just a, it's just a Ship of Fools"

The Kinks had their "Autumn Almanac" in 1967, whilst the Moody blues had their "Lazy Day" in 1970...
Lazy day, Sunday afternoon, Like to get your feet up, watch T.V. Sunday roast is something good to eat, Must be beef today 'cause lamb was last week.
So full up, bursting at the seams, Soon you'll start to nod off, happy dreams. Wake up, for tea and buttered scones Such a lot of work for you Sunday Moms.
It's such a crying shame Week after week the same.
Today's heaven-sent and you're feeling content, You worked all week long. Still, it's quite sad tomorrow's so bad And I don't feel so strong.
Lazy day, Sunday afternoon, Like to get your feet up, watch T.V. Sunday roast is something good to eat, Now it's almost over till week.
That's how your life goes by Until the day you die.

I love this song performed by Bing Crosby & Rosemary Clooney... COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS (Instead of Sheep) (Irving Berlin) from the 1954 movie "White Christmas". When I'm worried and I can't sleep I count my blessings instead of sheep And I fall asleep counting my blessings When my bankroll is getting small I think of when I had none at all And I fall asleep counting my blessings I think about a nursery and I picture curly heads And one by one I count them as they slumber in their beds If you're worried and you can't sleep Just count your blessings instead of sheep And you'll fall asleep counting your blessings (PS: thanks CL for posting that Split Enz tune which I still have on a 45. I hadn't thought of it in ages. )

Very True Noisy...better to look at your glass as half full than half empty. Or accenuate the positive and eliminate the negative like another songs goes...I'm trying but it ain't easy, gotta stand and face it life is so complicated! " The soul needs attention Like the body needs to breath But banks want investment So who are we Cultures are dying But gold reserves are safe Can't live in this jungle But can't escape Whatever happened To the dreams we shared together A taste of wine A moonlight song that lasts forever "

Thanks Ms. Room - in "Our Hall of Fame" thread, I posted the video yesterday.
BTW - the movie "White Christmas" is a Christmas tradition for my wife - unfortunately, it's not one of my faves, but I do enjoy the "Count Your Blessings" segment.
