Okay, we have to make it up to the Fab Four for having stolen the Best Album of 1968 thing away from them (All our illegal extra stemming and all...) So here's a thread just for the Liverpudlians:
1. And I Love Her 2. For No One 3. Things We Said Today 4. Another Girl 5. Oh! Darling
(highly subjective, changes day to day...)

I don't feel a bit bad about the White Album taking a back seat to VGPS. I think it is one of the Beatles' best albums-but suffered from having 47 minutes crammed onto one disc because of Revolution 9 and the sound quality on a lot of the cuts suffered while there is nearly enough filler to make a complete album (Long Long Long, Wild Honey Pie, Rev 9, Do It in the Road, etc-yes, I think Do It in the Road is filler). I like their middle period best, from Hard Days Night through Revolver. My fave five of their originals: 1. Got to Get You Into My Life 2. I'll Be Back 3. Every Little Thing 4. You've Got to Hide Your Love Away 5. Things We Said Today I have a mix at home of George Harrison's Beatle songs. It includes the Berry covers he sang in their early days and his originals. It is a great CD; he was a very good songwriter and singer. While My Guitar Gently Weeps is my favorite cut on the White Album, but is poorly produced.

I also forgot about all that stemming. In fact, I stemmed again today and it felt really good . VGPS is still at 46% dwarfing it's nearest competitor. Here are 5 Beatles songs that come to mind without giving it too much thought: 1) While My Guitar Gently Weeps 2) In My Life 3) A Day in the Life 4) We Can Work it Out 5) Day Tripper (not sure about this last one--too much competition)

5? ? Not fair! Once I made a list of my favourite 40 Beatles songs, I still keep it and I'm very proud about. So I looked at it and chose the five I think I like the most... 1. For No One 2. I'll Be Back 3. If I Fell 4. Here, There And Everywhere 5. We Can Work It Out

Great to see so many different choices -- I like the fact that we're going for the less well-known non-hit tracks. (Amazing that "I'll Be Back" is our top choice so far -- I'll bet plenty of people who call themselves Beatles fans couldn't even call that one easily to mind.) Nancy, I knew you'd agree with me on "Oh! Darling."
