Back in the USA
Back in the USA, jetlag’s my middle name. Some of the boys talked about going out for a drink here in San Fran, but i seriously doubt it’ll happen. At least not for me, being up for god knows how many houers unable to sleep on flights.
Friday we’ll play the Warfield Theatre, once up on a time home ground for the Grateful Dead, and it’s actually the first time ever for me coming back to a venue where I played before with Ray. We did the Warfield on the last US tour in july -06, but i don’t remember much of the gig except for the old, beutiful theater being located in quite a nasty area. I haven’t seen so many whacked and burned out people in one day day as i did strolling around the neighbourhood of the theatre, and if anyone should still have romantic thoughts about the hippie spirit of -68, i recommend him/her to spend a day at the Market Street instead of Heght-Ashbury when in Frisco.
Anyway, don’t really mean to be negative, it’s good to be here. First i thougt i saw the Golden Gate from my hotel window, but it appeared to be the Bay Bridge over to Oakland wich i get a good view of from the 28th floor.
Well, band’s never been better and I’m 100% sure we’re gonna put up some great shows when finaly here in the Land Of Hope And Glory!
No point travelling this far just being average...
Today...
You can see all the stars as you walk down Hollywood Boulevard...
First gig on the US part of this tour done! The crowd at the old Warfild Theater in San Francisco saw a world live premiere premiere of "The Real World", in my opinion Ray’s most beutiful piece of work since "Waterloo Sunset". All in all a great show, prob on my top ten list since joining the band. But there’s still more to get.
Aussie was nice, but being here is the real deal, both on and off stage. Yesterday i got a brief sightseeing of some cool spots in SF by my good mate Al Perry, alt country legend from Tuscon who had made the trip up to California, and i felt just like being in a film set. Just arrived to the hotel in Los Angeles after a short flight, and I’ve got Beverly Hills just outside the window, a bit further away the famous Hollywood sign.
And i got me a new Martin git yesterday! A beuty, basicly same model as the on on my avatar pic. I got a real good deal on the craigslist (kinds of local E-bay), and the seller, a real sweet guy in his best years named Dennis, seemed as happy as me fully enoying the show with his wife.
Anyway, I’m off to soundcheck for tonights show. Wouldn’t surprise me if Celluloid Heroes will be pulled out of the bag...
