Ray, band and crew kicked off the first of their & US show here last night. Played for about 1 hour 45 minutes, with 2 sets. They were in top form and surprisingly so the the SF audience. The response was beyond what I expected from what first appeared to be a mild mannered audience but they really gave Ray their full support! Ray did not have Karin singing backup on this tour. Did 3 songs from WMC, title track, In a Moment, No One Listens. Besides what he has been doing at most shows he also did a solo slice of This is Where I Belong, and some of Apeman, Come Dancing has been added to the set list. He was sound checking Low Budget but did not do it last night. Also Victoria is on the set list but he dd not do that. He did have his Union Jack suit jacket on for one song though! After the 2nd encore the crowd was so riled up they almost refused to leave for a good 10 minutes before they were ushered out of the venue. Brought back memories of The KinKs at Central Park in 72 where for over 30 minutes after the last song and god knows how many encores the crowd in near tears where cheering and go berserk for more. I still have to this day not seen an audience that has shown more emotion at a concert than that!
Ray's Crew wants the Paper Plates at the show but requested if anyone brings a toaster for Stuart to not bring in in to the venue....seriously they want the Plates though they missed them last night!
On to LA....Here Comes Yet another Day

Just waitin' for my sweetheart to come up from San Diego and then it's off to the show. Let's make the Wiltern shake!! (I hear that the loge and balcony areas are pretty bouncy --seriously )

Hey now y'all. My very first post here. Last nite was fantastic, far exceeding expectations of this verteran Kins-head whose probably caught about every tour since August of 1972. It was great to see the enthusiasm of the audience with virtually everyone in the place clapping, cheering and stomping their feet a good 7 or 8 minutes after the band had left the stage after their last planned encore, not stopping until a minute or 2 after the stagehands had started to break down the stage. Would have been extra wonderful if they had obliged us with one more (perhaps Waterloo Sunset?), but I'm sure they were in the downstairs area backstage and proabably barely heard the commotion. Anyways, I was hoping to find a setlist for last nite but have not, so am trying to construct one. This is purely from memory, as I did not write any of it down. I think I have the songs down, but the order is prabably a bit off. Can anyone here help me out? Thanks! I'm Not Like Everybody Else Where Have All the Good Times Gone 'Til the End of the Day Well Respected Man Next Door Neighbor The Tourist (with Union Jack Jacket) Workingman's Cafe Apeman (partial)- very unsure where this fit in 20th Century Man (WOW!!!) setbreak (acoustic)This Is Where I Belong (first 4 lines, lastin about 14 seconds) Vietnam Cowboys After the Fall (or was that in the first set?) No One Listens In A Moment Come Dancin' So Tired of Waiting Set Me Free All Day and All of the Night encores Days (first acoustic, then electric) Lola You Really Got Me
