I guess, after a thread about the most criminally underrated band in the history of music I had to start this one, not to cause any controversy of course
To me there is only one band to start with, Kiss, I wish someone could explain the attraction of them?
I have listen to a good amount of their songs and find them, on the whole, poorly written and amateurishly played. It says something that the one song of theirs I really like, Crazy Crazy Nights, is one most Kiss fans seem to hate.
As for their stage costumes, come on, middle aged men in skin tight lycra and none of them are exactly oil paintings.
I watched a show of theirs on TV a few months ago, from a residency in Las Vegas, and found the whole thing embarrassing.
I am not condemning anyone for liking them, but however hard I try the attraction is beyond me but millions of people love them so maybe it is me who is wrong, nah, thats impossible

Excellent idea! Before I come up with one of The Most Overrated Bands In The History Of Music I would like to say the following about KISS: I never was a KISS fan and I never will be! As you point out their songs are on the whole poorly written and recorded. I own a band compilation that includes the only KISS song I love – the 1979 „I Was Made For Loving You“ written by Paul Stanley after having returned from Studio 54 in the very early morning. Nevertheless the KISS Machinery works extremely well. Said that I am pleased to own all books by Paul Stanley, they are highly interesting and great reads! And I truly appreciate EVERY interview with or event featuring Paul Stanley. An extremely down-to-earth, well-read, well-spoken person with a brilliant and sharp mind.

Actually Martin I admit I do like "I was made for loving you" as well, had forgotten that one Have never read any of Paul Stanley's books but I agree that when I have seen him interviewed or read interviews he does seem to be a down-to-earth guy, the opposite, in my view to Gene Simmons who i cannot stand.

Metallica. 🥱 Four musically learning-resistant adults releasing the same soulless noise for years. 'Nuff said.
