Gold star to the first person who can tell me who took the photo on the front cover of the Marble Arch 1966 record 'Well Respected Kinks' Attachments:

I love this photo. It looks almost like a candid snapshot -- love those photos where Ray is kind of in the background, not out in front like the star of the show.
I'm going to guess that his wife Rasa took the picture?

There's a stack of these at the local, Auburn Alabama location of Hastings, $3 each... Nice little find, but if the photo credit is included in the rather detailed looking back cover liner notes, all of it is printed so microscopically I haven't been able to read any of it without glasses... so hold up...
No... no photo credits, only some "Fab Four" style autobiographical pieces from the four original memebers.
I love the fact that although this is a solid collection of great songs, it doesn't even come close to hinting at the amazing years to come for The Kinks.

Small, small world! I'm 45 miles away from that Hastings location! I used to frequent it all the time ! My brother or I will check those out as we need to get down there again! Oh, your glasses didn't fail; there is no info! I might pick that up for $3. By the way, I'm not sure I've ever seen 10 total Kinks cds in there and I used to Sherlock Holmes the shelves virtually every month for several years! So that's a victory in and of itself that there is a stack of Kinks cds there! Welcome to the board wildockery!

Yes, Hastings is still pretty slack on Kinks, and even this stack is just in their bargain bin under "K"...

Some things never change, I guess. By the way, you might check your private 'messages' at the top of the page, as I sent you a PM (private message)!

I'm not sure what to make of Hastings sometimes. Over where there could be at least some representation for The Kinks, there's not even an empty slot for them, yet there's row after row of Kiss CDs and King Something. But Well Respected Kinks is a fine little collection, and at $3 a copy, if they don't sell I'll just keep buying fresh ones on my visits to Hastings, which, like your earlier days, I visit about once or twice a month. And I'm checking the message now, see you there...

I have a positive theory about that. I've never seen many used Kinks cds; and I haven't seen many used Beatles ones in proportion to the large amount that are out there. The music of timeless artists is cherished and not let go of easily is the postulation! Although, for instance, Sugar's 'File Under Easy Listening' is pretty cool and there's at least 10 of those (with a notch in the spine) in every store; but that's because they were so overproduced for the level of audience there was for them, I think!

I think that's the situation in a lot of places, and in fact an experience a while back made me think the record shop clerks are snapping up copies before they make it to the shelves. I bought very low priced used copies of Preservation Act 2 and the very under rated 1986 Think Visual at a shop in Atlanta. As I was paying one worker, another one almost whined and walked away: "Now we have no more Kinks CDs..." I asked the guy I was paying, "Really? You have no more Kinks CDs out back?" He said, "Well used copies are kind of hard to come by."
