It’s Dave here from Muswell Hillbillies, the 11-piece all-Kinks combo that will be doing it one more time at the acoustically poifect Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton MA, coming up on Thurs. December 20, 7pm...
In general I try not to go out on a limb like this; however, this particular set is a bit different: it will be double-length (the Horse has given us the full night, allowing us to include some 40-50 tunes) and is comprised of the absolute kreme-de-la-kreme of klassic Kinkdom…
On the 20th we will be working front to back—that is, leading with highlights from the latter-day Davies (Do It Again, et al) before delving more generously into the ‘71-’68 Muswell-Lola-Arthur-VGPS period, followed by a smattering of ’67-’66 Something Else-FTF, then finishing off full-throttle with the string of sensational singles that started it all circa ’65-’64…
As these shows have been fairly well-attended (we don’t play all that often—in fact last year’s was supposed to be our last), this is more of a direct appeal to the hard-core fan base than a please-buy-our-tickets campaign. Face it: any list that includes stuff like “Brainwashed,” “Yes Sir, No Sir” (both featuring the teenaged Hillbilly Horns), “Too Much on My Mind,” “I Go to Sleep,” “Johnny Thunder,” “End of the Season,” “Big Sky” and “Drivin’” obviously isn’t geared toward the casual listener—and if you’re on this page, you're our kinda people. Which is why we sincerely hope that you (and all of your friends) can be there on the night of the 20th in Northampton....
Please see the IH link (as well as vid clips) below; you may contact me for additional detail, including info about getting discounted tix ($10 off/pair).
This is where you belong (really).....dS
