The Stranglers weren’t a punk band at all. They emerged with the wave of punk. For being a punk group the band members were too old, too experienced and musically too skilled. Consequently they were able to play more than three chords like their contemporaries. Their music was heavily but not only influenced by the Doors. Nevertheless did they manage to create their own proper sound which lifted them off from other bands at that time. Hugh Cornwell, Jean-Jacques Burnel, Dave Greenfield and Jet Black had the brains and the guts to use the prevailing market technics of that time in their favour. The Stranglers - Sometimes Have fun!
