Powderfinger are an Australian band that has been very popular in their home country but has has less impact in America. They remind me a bit of Embrace due to their uplifting song themes. I believe they are one of the more unique modern power pop bands. Here is a great song off their brilliant CD Odyssey No. 5.

Thanks for the Primitives recommendation sleepwalker! I'll unfortunately have to put it on a 'to do later' list as I already have a backlog of things I haven't listened too! And I really like the Primitives video and wonder what 7 American Idol obsessing idgits said they disliked that one!? I like those Letters to Cleo covers! Aw The Romantics; oh how many times did I crusie around in high school with their 'In Heat' album blaring. It actually had their big, massive hit 'Talking In Your Sleep' and one of my favs and a Top 40 hit 'One In A Million' on it. 'Rock You Up'; oh I'll have to put that cd on before I go to bed! I got a worn, battered copy on the cheap a few years ago when the thing was out of print and pricey; so I was lucky! I was also lucky to get that Plimsouls cd discounted several years ago! I haven't listened to it in awhile all the way through though! Yep, classic Bangles! It seemed I listened to their Different Light album (yes, I still have the vinyl record) almost all 'night and light'! I love that whole record; but the Big Star cover I posted and 'If She Knew What She Wants' (a minor hit) were sort of my underrated favs on the record! I'll try to add another stylistic choice of selections that I built another mix cd around on Sunday, hopefully!

Thanks for the Powderfinger video Tim! There used to be someone on the rollingstone.com board from Down Under who was a big fan of theirs! I know I talked to you about them and you bought some things by them! I need to borrow that cd from you and listen to it closely again!

Muzzle was an unheralded 90's group. I loved their album Betty Pickup. Lots of catchy tunes on that album. I couldn't find anything by them on Youtube so I made one of my favorite Muzzle song.

The Merrymakers were another band in the Jellyfish mold, but they were unique too. Their album Bubblegun is filled with catchy tunes and soaring harmonies. Here is one of their best:

Like The Merrymakers, The Wannadies are a Swedish power pop band. Their self-titled album is full of fun, stellar tunes like this one.

This Perfect Day is yet another Swedish power pop band, and quite possibly the best of the three. Highly underrated, I love all their albums. Here is a favorite off their best album C-60.

Ok, back to American power pop. I present to you, Bleu. Check out their/his album Redhead. Absolutely phenomenal. My music friends from other boards love this band. Here is a gentle song off Redhead, though it could be interpreted as stalking

I'll end tonight with my favorite current band, Carolina Liar. They got some play on VH1 but should be superstars. Coming To Terms is full of incredible songs. Here is my personal favorite:

Thanks for all your new contributions Tim! As you know, I've heard many great This Perfect Day tracks from your cds; one of their albums sounds like a greatest hits disc! You also know I'm well aware of Carolina Liar!
I'll check out those other 2 Swedish band videos later!

Nice gentle number by Bleu, Tim! I really like that Wannadies tune; really fits into the mold of classic power pop! For some reason, I cannot get the Muzzle tune to play; nor the Adam Schmitt one I listed and played fine before Tim, I know you had to imbed the Schmitt tune for and the Muzzle one from your personal youtube account because youtube took those down immediately. I wonder if those imbeds have also timed out somehow and are unviewable on the forum? But Tim, you say they play fine for you? I'm wondering if someone else can see the Muzzle video?

This is an attempt to post the studio version of the Tommy Keene hit 'Places That Are Gone' from the 80s with Tim's help! I hope it doesn't become unviewable! Sleepwalker, you might notice that Keene's voice is similar to the lead singer of the Candyskins, perhaps!

Btw Tim, the Muzzle video is playing now! Schmitt too I wonder what the magic bullet is that made those play again here?

Speaking of the Britpop band The Candyskins, this is their song that got the most play and profile in the US because I recall it being used in a commerical and some movie!
