I just finished reading it. I'd never read the original, so it was new to me. I loved it, but did they edit the American version to replace the word football with soccer? I found that to be quite strange, really. It didn't seem right to read him talking about soccer as I knew he would have said football himself. Anyway, that's a small price to pay for a great book. I'm getting ready to re-read it and play each song mentioned as I come across it in the book.

Hey Holly. We must think alike musically. Nick Lowe is one of my favorite artists.

it's a jazzier cover but it seems a bit pointless me getting this again, if it was part 2 then I would do anything to get my hands on it (within reason that is) I might see if my air guitar playing whilst prancing round the living room with his tie around his forehead dad will get it for me, (or for him as I nicked his copy ;D )

SV, I noticed that the earlier American version had the "soccer" substitution in it already, even though it used single quotation marks and in most other respects didn't change other Englishisms. It seems a silly change to me. Any American who didn't know what the game is called in Britain wouldn't be a Ray Davies fan in the first place.

You know he'd be cringing each time he used that word. In Autumn Almanac, he likes his football on Saturday, not his soccer.
