this past wednesday i saw stone temple pilots and black rebel motorcycle club out at jones beach here in ny with my son. between sets while the stage was being changed i heard big sky played over the pa i was probably one of a small group of people in attendance who knew the song. both bands were great by the way excedeing my expectations especially brmc who reminded me at times of velvet underground pink floyd and luna.

I've never heard their music, Don, but now you've got me intrigued. I'll have to check them out.

Cool story don, Ive seen BRMC and STP and never heard a kinks song played on the monitors I think BRMC have mentioned the liking the Kinks before though? At a Black Crowes show in a club down on the Jersey shore a few years ago they played a whole side of Kinda Kinks through the PA before the show started and I think I was one of 2 people who had any idea it was the KinKs even when a slightly recognizable song came on like Set Me Free

i went to this show with no expectations, i know stp from what i've heard on the radio and whay my son plays at home and had never heard bmrc before and was impressed by both. i was thinking with a name like black rebel motorcycle club i was in for 45 minutes of loud obnoxious thrash metal but when they started i was into it immediately and bought their first cd "BMRC" last night. the vocals remind me a bit like the white stripes singer which can be a bit annoying but its not really too bad. i think you may like them holly. tomorrow night we are off to jones beach again to see jethro tull with openning act peter frampton, a strange pairring but i've heard this tull tour is heavy on the first 3 albums so i'm looking forward to it frampton i can take or leave.

LOVE STP... Kev just saw them at SummerFest in July! Have been a fan since the beginning! HH.. STP... Kinda like Led Zeppelin, 90's style. Scott Weiland, lead singer, just finished a stint with Velvet Revolver. A supergroup of Guns and Roses, Slash & Company, without Axel Rose. (they MAY be done.. i guess they are looking for a new lead singer now that Weiland has reformed STP) Daniel Davies' group, Year Long Disaster, opened for them on their European dates. If you like to rock hard.. they do! www.stonetemplepilots.com/index.phpwww.velvetrevolver.com/
