A LYNMOUTH residential care home will be getting a touch of the rock star treatment next month.
Dave Davies, legendary founder and lead guitarist of The Kinks, will be opening a summer fete in the grounds of the Manor House Residential Home on June 7.
The guitarist, famous for creating the buzzing power chords in the in 1964 hit You Really Got Me, will be at the event being hosted by residential home owners Val and Gordon Watson from 1-5pm.
"It's looking to be a great event," said Iain Harris of Manor House.
"Rock stars always go down well here. We'd also like to invite the Jackson family to the fete to welcome them to North Devon. They would receive a very warm welcome from the people of Lynmouth."
The fete will feature stalls and activities, including new and second-hand items for sale, competitions, a bouncy castle, hog roast, reflexology, a raffle and crystal healing.
"Our residents are eager to participate in the day's activities and we aim to make it a brilliant afternoon with proceeds going to the Lyn Lyons, Mr Harris said"
If anyone would like to make a donation towards the event or raffle, they can contact Iain Harris on (01271) 329507.
This item on the message board at Dave's site began to raise a lot of dust, till clarification was posted today from the Admin of the site:
"Dave is opening a Charitable Event for the Lynn Lyons Charity on the Manor Green in Lynmouth. North Devon. June 7th.
Dave will not be performing."
So, the world can just cool it's jets!
