At the very real risk of being drummed out of the corps here, I ask, why? And, who is going to play guitar? I have the Zep's vinyl and CD albums and they were a good studio band; both Page and Jones were ace studio cats years before the band was put together and their early albums show it. I used to play several of their songs every weekend while in school as a guitarist, like Rock n Roll, When the Levee Breaks, and Stairway to Heaven and still can play them. Frankly starting with the Houses of the Holy they put out half filler, and it went up from there-and sold millions while the Kinks (and a few other GREAT bands from the late 60s) couldn't get arrested. The guitarists on this board who are honest will concur that Page was a sloppy live performer from the beginning, though his early innovative sound effects on the first two albums were interesting, he dumped these and by the 1975 American tour Page could not execute a simple minor pentatonic scale or bend a string without messing it up. He fractured a finger in '73 and had drug issues, but whatever the reason, I have heard many recordings of his studio and live work since the Presence album and the band is going to need a tour guitarist to handle the soloing. Plant has put out many albums, I have all of them (two with Page featuring interesting songs and rythm guitar, but little of his bombastic signature lead style) and I am a fan of his. Jones is a very talented producer and the best musician in the band. I don't see anything to motivate Plant to do this tour, except money, and he could have done a reunion tour many times in the past but passed on the idea.

I can't say I agree with you on Zeppelin...I guess in a few words they are the epitome and essence of what not only fuzed legendary and classic blues with rock & roll, but also did it in a unique way that no one else did and made it popular. Their musicianship can't be denied as at the top of the heap. One of the problems with a lot of new bands is that as you listen to them it sounds like they never listened to a record or song that was made or recorded after 1980, their is no blues or soul in their sound, and the feeling. it's hard to expalin and like the slogan Harley Davidson uses " if I have to explain you probably wouldn't Understand" To this day there is not a Zep album that bores me, yes a few of ther songs are overplayed like a lot of other bands, but overall they have stood the test of time.

IMO too much rock and not enough roll. But I haven't listened to enough to make a judgment. I'm just saying.

Hey if we all were exactly alike and had the same tastes wouldn't that be boring plus we couldn't sing " I'm Not Like Everybody Else " with conviction. Some people drink Scotch and some people drink bourbon ;D but are still good friends....ps btw any chance are you going to the Yankee game tomorrow afternoon. We wll be there
