Smiley, Andrea and I ate dinner at one of the Mohigan Sun resturants last night and saw that Ed Rolland is playing a solo show there I think May 23rd...are you going to any of his solo shows?

Interesting to find another group of CS fans in this board. I have been a fan of CS since they debuted. I like many of their album cuts more than the ones they are known for (I don't watch MTV), like 'Generate', 'Bleed', 'Untitled', etc. Both of my sons are fans as well, and they tend to like crap like Trent Reznor (though the young one likes the Kinks and Cream). They seem to have some staying power, changing their sound and personnel little. Good band.

I consider Collective Soul as an "American cousin" to the Kinks in that, just like our heroes, CS were (are) considered a 'singles band' and received little support from their record label. And just like the Kinks, when you play some of their songs to "unenlightened" people, their respionse is usually, "Gee, I didn't know that was Collective Soul". How many times has that happened when you play Kinks tunes?
BTW - I would rate "Dosage" nearly as high as Muswell Hillbillies when picking "the perfect album".

CS is definitely an album band and their middle discs are full of great stuff. I like Dosage, Disciplined Breakdown, and self-titled. Blender is almost as good and I like a lot of the first disc as well. I reviewed Youth and gave it an okay plus, but it was sort of a been there done that, for me. What I never got was why December was a hit, and so many other great cuts off these middle discs were lost in the shuffle.

I have always wondered that tooooooo! They had 3 hits off of the 1999 CD, Dosage.. including RUN, Heavy, No More ,No Less and STILL no one plays those anymore. No one knows who they are anymore either humm.. seem familiar? WE have another SOULmate in our midst! ;D

Ms. Smiley - I screwed up again! CS was playing at the North Fork Theatre on Aug 13 (Nee Westbury Music Fair) and I totally forgot!.
BTW - they played a short concert at PNC park on Friday, 8/15 after the conclusion of the Mets/Pirates game - the Mets announcers gave them a rave review during the Saturday pre-game show.
