Who voted for Fountains of Wayne? These guys are definitely growing on me. If the music business weren't in such crap shape, they should be at the top of everybody's playlist; they are pure pop brilliance.

Nice poll, but to make it a bit more interesting, I think we should take The Kinks off. Being us who we are, we will normally vote for them (I did), but we all agree on that one anyway.
On the other hand, I miss some bands:
Small Faces, Easybeats, The Remains, Los Lobos, Hoodoo Gurus for example.

I think I was the one who voted for my favorite local band (late 70-80's) SHOES! Great Power-Pop foursome from Zion, IL about 40 minutes north of Chi-towne. They had a string of minor FM hits and video play on MTV. Their "Boston" influenced guitar sound and flawless, brotherly harmonies made them stand out from the crowd.
I heard "Tomorrow Night" the other day on WXRT, brought back some great memories... ;D ;D ;D
