I've been searching for a Kinks song since Dec. 9-10, 1991. Can you help?
I was in Maastricht, Netherlands, it was maybe 6am, and the radio played a Kinks song I'd never heard before. It was melancholic (of course) and was the only time I ever heard Ray make a reference or allusion to hippies and/or Woodstock. (Not Mary Quant, not Swinging London).
It's 21 years later; I've listened to just about everything and read just about every lyric and have never found it, or heard it since.

Welcome to the board Adamsdad! Wow, 21 years is a long time to have been trying to locate a song! I hope someone here can help you to identify it, I reckon you've come to the right place anyway. I saw your post about 10 minutes ago and have been racking my brains trying to think what it could be... The only hippie type reference that came to mind was these lyrics from the Kinks song, Did Ya - And I remember myself in my tie dye sweater And my hipster corduroy flares Might this be the song you have in mind?

Thanks sleepwalker24. (Wow, 14,901 posts is impressive> That's an encyclopedia of Kinks Kronikles. I will have a listen. (Of course, the risk is also that after 21 years, I won't remember exactly what I heard that foggy morning in eastern Holland).
Thank you, and I'm open to all other suggestions from other Misfits.

Thankyou, I'm not sure that my post count is impressive though - probably just a consequence of my 'slight' Kinks obssession! Of course the lovely people who post here keep me coming back Yes, memories of things like that fade and have a habit of changing over the years...still, I hope you do find out what that song was. If it's on an official studio album then it can't be impossible to find! Do you remember anything else about the song?

A foggy morning in Maastricht. Well, I can think of a lot of reasons why your brain may have been playing tricks on you at 6am!

Yes, good thinking Uncle! Why didn't I think of The Road? Would be cool if that's the song Adamsdad heard all those years ago!
