I can't make sense of the information out there. Has the Deluxe Edition of Muswell Hillbillies been released?

I don't believe they ever completed this reissue, sadly. Perhaps Ray got distracted with other projects, or perhaps the first 3 reissues didn't sell as much as they'd hoped. It's a shame. I don't frankly know whether these reissues are still on the agenda or whether plans have been shelved.

Thats a shame, the deluxe editions have been absolutely fantastic aswell. i'll just buy the cd versions currently available. Knowing my luck when i buy them they'll announce deluxe editions.

Yeah, that's usually the way it works! It's my favorite Kinks Cd, so IMO you can't go wrong buying any edition of it.

I didn't think there was much more in the way of new bonus tracks that could be added to a new edition. Or is it another remastering that has your mouths watering?

Well Gary i never originally owned any Kinks cd's untill these deluxe were released infact i only had a greatest hits album, my problem with buying those earlier editions of Kinks cd's was that i always had a sneaky suspicion they'd get remastered and re-packaged for example The Beatles original cd remasters i started collecting them very dear by the way 25 quid for Sgt Peppers in HMV (Bloody Joke!!!!!) and then hey presto they re released etc etc . But those Beatles remasters were utterly fantastic nicely packaged sound great nice booklets with interesting information the exact same goes for those Kinks deluxe editions & of course the fantastic bonus tracks, from what i gathered aswell the deluxe editions sound superior to the original remasters. Its a real shame these wont be re released. But hey The Who sold theyre back catalogue to spirit music so we'll be seeing new Who cd's in the shop soon enough.

This new round of reissues started just when I'd finished replacing my LPs with the 1990s reissues. For me, the big draw is previously unreleased songs and the new reissues add only about one of those to each disk, so I decided to pass. I do need to hunt down that "Picture Book" box, though -- I was surprised at how quickly that became hard to find!

Gary, I understand that you like to buy these sort of things at yard sales and thrift stores? But if you really want it there are always copies floating around on eBay! I ended up with a promo copy of that set, it has a completely different cover to the regular one and the Cds are packaged differently inside. I think it might be quite rare as I've only seen one or two other copies online since I bought it. I remember when I got into Konk the guy who let me in helped me carry a speaker I'd bought to my my car, and saw my promo copy on the dashboard, he seemed a little surprised that I had one! I hope you can get a copy Gary, it's really very good!

Since then, I've purposely stayed away from it, as I can easily see myself becoming addicted. Also, those final countdown seconds filled me with anxiety. But I should be brave and return. "Picture Book" has about a dozen songs that aren't on my CD reissues -- including one of my top 10 favorites, "She's Got Everything," which was foolishly, IMO, left off the VGPS deluxe edition.

Gary, there has been a Buy It Now feature on ebay for a few years now where you can purchase immediately! There is even a Buy It Now with a Best Offer feature for some listings on ebay, where you can give your price to the seller and see if they will take it! Your best deals can often be found this way! But, you can also still get things for 'a steal' sometimes in the auction section when there is little or no bidding and the starting price is low if you want to delve in to the 'clock is ticking world' ever again!

You're welcome Gary Yes, it can be addictive, you just need to know your limets! And John is right, some items have a Buy It Now option, or some sellers are open to offers. John is also right when he says that you can sometimes get a real bargain too! I've got a bit anxious too, during the last few hours/or minutes of an auction, if it's something I really want! It can be tempting to keep bidding higher and higher, it's best to have the maximum amount you're willing to pay and try and stick to it. There'd be no harm in just looking for that Picture Book set on Ebay, Gary. You might find a Buy It Now and you don't have to bid on anything if you don't feel like it. There are some great songs that haven't appeared on other Kinks albums/comps so it's well worth getting!
