Today i finished my last cigarette and i dont intend to start again.I've smoked for 25 years and although i've stopped before (once for 6 months) i always started again.Even though- according to my doctor- im as fit as a fiddle, i know i have to stop.I cant begin to think how much i've spent in the last 25 years on cigarettes .Has anybody else stopped or do you still smoke but want to give up?I know its a horrible habit and can understand why non-smokers detest the smell etc.I'll do it even if its only for my 3 year old grandson.I'll do it for him!

Congratulations M4L ! I hope you can stick to your decision.
I have stopped 3 years ago and never bought a pack of cigarettes since the day I quit. But I smoke with my daughter when I see her and with a good friend of mine who is still a smoker.
I hope I will never go back to smoking regularly.

Congratulations M4L! I truly hope that you will never ever smoke again. I think you won't as you were ready mind-wise to quit smoking. I smoked once when I was 14 but I didn't like it at all. Again - great decision M4L, stick to it!

I smoked from age sixteen to thirty six. Im fifty seven now and am really glad I quit.
I tried to quit many times. But when I finally did, I had NO trouble. The time was right.
Congratulations M4L!

Like Uncleson, I smoked for several years when I was in college and graduate school, but I quit in 1980 and haven't had a single cigarette since. Unlike you, KinkCan, I don't think I can have an occasional cigarette -- it's all or nothing for me.
My father was a pack-a-day smoker for over 40 years. He died of emphysema. I had already quit for several years before he got sick, but watching him die that awful death just confirmed me in my decision that quitting was the right thing.
Congratulations M4L! If ever you need support, come on here and let us talk you out of ever smoking again!

How do you feel after a few days without smoking M4L ?
From my experience, those first days are the toughest. But they also prove that you can spend more time than you'd imagined without smoking and that is the good news.
