FROM NEIL'S KPS today! A new page from RAY's NEWWEST MARKETING chap, Mike.
Date: Mon, 3 Dec 2007 11:12:30 -0800
From: Michael Ruthig (newwestrecords)
Subject: Ray Davies release questions
> Is the standard format CD going to be exactly the same as the European
> release? Same packaging and songs?
> For the deluxe CD/DVD is the CD part the same as the standard CD? What
> is the source of the live performances and video interview? Have they both
> been selected/performed already?
Neil:
I don't have 100% answers for both questions.
I promise that as soon as it is confirmed I'll let you know.
I can tell you the album is set to be released digitally on iTunes/
Zune/Rhapsody tomorrow (12/5). It is the 12 track version. If fans are
only going to buy a digital or physical version, I'd tell them to wait
a week or two until I confirm the final release details. We wanted it
made it available digitally for fans that just can't wait.
Also, we've set up an iLike page for Ray.
www.ilike.com/artist/Ray+Davies
Basically, iLike is the social networking site for facebook's music
section. For now. I'll be using this site to update all the details as I
get them. Tell everyone to check it out and sign up. I will run some
contests through the page. I added two full audio streams of "Working
Man's Cafe" and "Vietnam Cowboys". Fans should be able to dedicate the
songs and stream on their own pages.
Does your email list ever run contests or done things to support Ray/
Kinks releases?
I definitely want to engage the fans to help spread the word.
Feel free to share any ideas with me.
All the best,
mike
