I don't know why, but the nickname Nobby (according to Wikipedia) is often used to refer to rich men, or particularly fashion-conscious men, apparently in reference to the knobby appearance of a top hat. Did John Gosling use to wear top hats? Otherwise it is often applied to men with the surname Clark because medieval clerks -- or "clarkes" -- got knobs on their fingers from using their pens so much. Gordon Clark of the Bay City Rollers was also nicknamed Nobby (don't ask me how I know that ). Here's a Q -- name all the Kinks #1 singles in the US and the UK. (It's a short list ) Thanks HH! Maybe one of our Brit Fans knows fer sure??? I'm not British (unfortunately) but as far as I remember John Dalton was nicknamed Nobby after Norbert "Nobby" Peter Stiles, an English former footballer. He was the midfield ballwinner of England's 1966 World Cup winning squad. Both Ray and Dave mentioned it in their autobiographies. ;D

Name, without looking at it, the title of Dave's first solo album. ("Dave Davies" is not allowed) Huh... I've always been good at numbers. AFL1-3603.

Viva you always amaze me with your sharp mind and memory, thanks for that, especially about Nobby, I did not remember reading that at all.

I have just read Kink (well, 4 months ago but it's nothing) and I've read X-Ray 3 times so it's obvious that I remember such things. Especially when I'm a football fan. ;D

A new question... Well... It may seem to be a tough one but let's try. For which British sit-com did Ray Davies write the title song?

Till Death Us Do Part. In America, it was remade as All In the Family.

Wild guess, but maybe You Really Got Me? I remember reading about it in Ray's book but I'm not sure...
