I don't know why Gosling has that nickname, but the nickname Nobby (according to Wikipedia) is often used to refer to rich men, or particularly fashion-conscious men, apparently in reference to the knobby appearance of a top hat. Did John Gosling use to wear top hats? Otherwise it is often applied to men with the surname Clark because medieval clerks -- or "clarkes" -- got knobs on their fingers from using their pens so much. Gordon Clark of the Bay City Rollers was also nicknamed Nobby (don't ask me how I know that ). Here's a Q -- name all the Kinks #1 singles in the US and the UK. (It's a short list )

Maybe one of our Brit Fans knows fer sure??? As for the #1's -- YRGM?? I think was the ONLY ONE??? I'm pretty sure, from memory, that A.D.A.A.O.T.N., and the rest of the Kinks Hit-Parade did not make it to #1 in the States, nor did Lola or Come Dancing. I do have a Billboard chart (in my files) that shows ALBUM -- Low Budget getting to #3 in the states, contrast to THE KINKS bible I'm not looking at the Dave Emlin's U.K.W.

According to Dave Emlen's site... In the UK the Kinks had 4 #1s -- You Really Got Me, Tired of Waiting, Sunny Afternoon, and (on the NME chart at least) Lola. In the US, none. In Canada, however, they did get to #1 with Sunny Afternoon. In Sweden, they hit #1 twice -- with "Till the End of the Day" and "Well Respected Man." New Zealand gave them #1s with both "Dedicated Follower of Fashion" and "Lola." And Holland has always given the Kinks lots of support, with 4 #1s -- "Dedicated Follower of Fashion," "Sunny Afternoon," Waterloo Sunset," and "Lola." Now here's another bit of trivia -- which Kinks single had the most chart success in the US?

I thought YRGM was the only one that hit #1 in both countries :/ yes ,We know personally the Dutch LOVE the KinKs!!! Now here's another bit of trivia -- which Kinks single had the most chart success in the US?Without cheating.. my guess would be "Sunny Afternoon"PS.. Good game. Thanks!!! ;D

Nope and nope. (Yeah, Sharon, I was surprised too to learn that YRGM never made it to #1 in the States...).
Another guess?

Tired Of Waiting and Come Dancing. Both #6.
Btw, I don't consider Lola a #1 but a #2. ;D

You are korrekt. And since Tired of Waiting was also a #1 in the UK (Come Dancing only made it to #12 there), that would make Tired of Waiting their most successful single. New Q?

Name, without looking at it, the title of Dave's first solo album. ("Dave Davies" is not allowed)

I doubt that even Dave could quote the full title without looking.
