October 20, 1982 -- The Kinks finish recording "Don't Forget to Dance" and "Come Dancing" at Konk Studios. Both tracks will later appear on the State of Confusion album, but the single of "Come Dancing" will also mark a triumphant return to the top of the charts, reaching #12 in the UK and #6 in the US.

October 22, 1963 -- The Boll Weevils sign a management concert with Robert Wace and Grenville Collins, who have never managed a rock band before but are inspired by the example of the Beatles' Brian Epstein. Wace, a wannabe rock singer, quits his day job as a sales rep for his father's company, but Collins prudently keeps his lucrative gig as a stockbroker in London.

October 17, 1969 – After several months of being mysteriously banned from performing in the US, just as mysteriously the Kinks have received visas again, and they quickly throw together a 17-city US tour to make up for lost time. They begin tonight, the first evening of a two-night stand at the Fillmore East in New York City, where they and the Bonzo Dog Band open for the headline act, Spirit. Rusty and unsure of themselves, the Kinks deliver a less-than-stellar performance, but at least one fan in the audience – 16-year-old Frank Lima from Valley Stream, New York – is transformed for life by his first-ever Kinks show. The day everything changed for me...and Ray and Dave too ;D

October 25, 1964 -- The Kinks enter Pye No. 2 recording studio in London to lay down tracks for their third studio album, to be named The Kinks Kontroversy. A new pianist, Nicky Hopkins, is brought in to add keyboards to songs like "I Am Free," "The World keeps Going Round," and "I'm On An Island." Shel Talmy also insists on booking a session drummer, Clem Cattini -- the last time that the Kinks allow a session drummer to supplement Mick Avory's drumming.

October 27,1990 -- Though Ray Davies has been shopping around for both a new label and a new manager (to replace Kenny Laguna), the five current members of the Kinks -- Ray Davies, Dave Davies, Bob Henrit, Jim Rodford, and keyboardist Mark Haley -- have been working at Konk on new tracks that will eventually appear on 1993's Phobia album. On this Saturday, all five Kinks surprise the Kinks Fan Club members by showing up at the Muswell Hill Civic Centre for the Kinks Konvention 1990.

S'OK, Nancy, I missed the Storyteller stuff too. I was imprisoned at home with a pod of rambunctious toddlers.
