From the Kinks Bible, Doug Hinman's The Kinks: All Day and All Of the Night:
45 years ago today -- September 10, 1964 -- Pye Records held a party to celebrate the fact that the Kinks' single "You Really Got Me" had just reached #1 on both the NME and Record Mirror charts.

September 13, 1985 -- The Kinks play the second of two nights at Pier 84 in New York City, with a set list that begins with "Do It Again" and "Definite Maybe" and ends with "All Day and All of the Night." In the audience is director Des McAnuff, who has been discussing with Ray the idea of writing a musical based on Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days.

September 14, 1964 -- Riding on the wild success of their first hit single, "You Really Got Me," the Kinks appear at the Majestic Ballrom in Newcastle. After only 3 songs, there's a riot at the front; nearly 100 girls faint as the crowd breaks through the barrier and tramples onto the stage, injuring Ray Davies in the process. The band is forced to stop the show and leave.
Fashion note: tonight the Kinks have abandoned their red hunting jackets and switched to matching grey sweaters.

The date was December 2, 1971 when they played ( with a little help from me ;D ) my college CW Post out on Long Island. I got Ray to do part of " when I turn off the Living room Light " and to my knowledge it is the ONLY time he has ever done it live?
