on the kps digest today rumors surfaced again about a KinKs reunion being planned for nest year and last night...
I was in a bar/resturarnt last night and they had a pair of flying pigs hanging from the ceiling...no joke! So this is a good sign ! Let's all keep our fingers crossed and hope and pray for a Ray and Dave brotherly reunion no matter what they call themselves. Many of the best memories and moments of my life I have Ray, Dave & KinKs shows to thank for! Thank you fore the days I surely will remember all my life!
FranK and the flying pigs were sighted before I had anything to drink
a coincidence or maybe not???

Thanks to Neil (again) and our own FRANK ...thought I'd post this in case you miss it elsewhere! Here's the link for the Q's that were asked and a copy of DAVE'S response follows: www.davedavies.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?id=445 Hey Frank,I wrote a song called Where pigs fly ' Ray wrote 10 songs out of it....one of them was Hatred, one was LOLA and the other eight were You Really Got Me. Ray has been doing Karaoke Kinks shows since 1996. "Phobia...what you got..." What is he talking about. I wouldn't mind or rather consider doing some shows with Ray purely in respect for the Great body of work we have both been fortunate to have been involved in over the years. And for the fans of course. And the money don't forget the money Reg, remember what it used to be like before the money, Reg. But to sit in a room or studio with him and have my brain and heart slowly sucked out ... no friggin thank you. Got the t-shirt, overcoat, bruises, psychiastrist, worts, scars, lumbago and somnambulistic gaze to proove it.....Muse indeed. Source, inspiration and creative and emotional supply maybe.....(not to mention psychic dustbin). oh forgive me, I muse! Ha Ha! (in flippant upperclass accent)...It would be like a poor remake of 'Night of the Livin Dead'..... There is nothing wrong with the old songs or new songs that we have both been writing on our own; but not more torture Please. no more Hannabal lectur.aah! the swan song Ray and Dave tour should be called the Kinks are 'The Fractured Mindz preservation Society'. 'Preserve in Peace.' Ah bless me, I muse myself...There's no hit like an old hit! or is it? no fool like an......oh whatever? or is it?. To pout or not to pout. That is the question. Whether it is nobler in the mind to suffer the sulks and abuse of outrageous performers..err.......no no no gettin mixed up here... I a'muse' . I adore. Love Dave bs. jest a little piece of flesh oh! oh! I mean fun.....Fun fun fun for all of you muses out there!!!. I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.....Oscar Wilde Last edited by dave davies (Today 06:16:14)

I found Dave's response a bit ambiguous, myself. He's obviously got some issues with it, but never actually ruled it out.

Well, for a while there I was feeling sorry for Dave and assuming that Ray was the main problem when it came to a reunion. This incoherent ramble sets me straight on that score.

From a contributer to Neil's Newsletter...maybe THIS is what DAVE is partially referring to "...In the uk daily express's day&night section the headline is, "Rays plan for kinks reunion" The content is pretty much of what Ray said in his interview in The Word magazine, but the fascinating comment for me is this, and i quote, "And ive got a really clever idea for us. I"m not going to tell him what it is yet, until he says he"ll do it. I have an instinct inside me of whats right for the next record and i know i can plan a great project- as long as they"ll do as i ask"...." This is out of context of entire interview so we should prolly go there next....

If Floyd and Zeppelin can do it... They do it very briefly, and with no new material to speak of. Doesn't mean much, I think.

I know I wrote a lot of the stuff but they were my muse. They were what I was writing for and I couldn’t have done it without knowing they’d be there.” I know I wrote a lot of the stuff but they were my muse Ray Davies However, Ray says there are still tensions to be settled with his brother Dave, the band’s guitarist, who suffered a stroke in 2004. I haven’t spoken to Dave since February,” explains Ray. “That was not a happy confrontation. What’s the issue? I think family problems. I want him to come and live with me. [/b] “He came and stayed with me for a while when he got sick. I quite liked it. I slept better because he was in the vicinity.
SEARCH DAY & NIGHTfor:
“I suppose it’s a big brother thing. But he wants to forge his own way. In a strange way he’s at his least communicative with me but we understand each other more because we’re brothers.
“And I’ve got a really clever idea for us. I’m not going to tell him what it is yet, until he says he’ll do it. I have an instinct inside me of what’s right for the next record and I know I can plan a great project – as long as they’ll do as I ask!”
maybe the Muse thing really ticked Dave off

Or the "as long as they'll do as I ask" bit. That would have ticked me off.
Well, I have go away now and ponder the idea of Ray sucking out Dave's heart and brain...

I think I understand Dave's reluctance to return to the studio with Ray. why should he have to go through the bull of being told what he can and what he can't contribute...and what little credit he'll recieve from what he does contribute.
I think it was in the 33 1/3 book series about the making of TKATVGPS that Pete Quaife recounted the nightmare of dealing with Ray's moods inside a recording studio. It seems Dave feels the same way. Why should he put up with that after recovering from a major stroke. Ray and Dave have produced enough quality music since the Kinks' "hiatus" that they can play a lot more than just their "hits".
I don't think they need to make new music before going out on tour. Ray has got to understand Dave's feelings on this. I know where he's coming from being the younger brother to a domineering older brother.

Or the "as long as they'll do as I ask" bit. That would have ticked me off. Well...being defender of the realm once again, as I said above, I need to read the entire inerview before I take this too literally..If I might be so bold to speculate...I cannot imagine even RAY being this overtly arrogant given the current state of his proclaiming publicly at every turn his nostalgia for the old band..I'm thinking perhaps the "As Long As They Do As I Ask" bit to have been quite tongue-in-cheek. And upon that happy note, I'm off to Think Visually ;D PS...if you haven't yet listened to the radio broadcast, do! It's GREAT!

Having read the article I took it as tongue in cheek as well. It sounds so "ray-like". Its unfortunate that they have such difficulty as a tour would be terrific. Yes I like the solo stuff but it would be great to see the kinks again.
