Thought it would be fun to have a thread to mention anytime we hear the Kinks played on the radio. I'd love to know what tracks your local stations are sending out there (if any...) Today on Sirius Disorder, Meg Griffin (my favorite DJ, even if she does giggle flirtatiously whenever she interviews Nick Lowe ) talked about WMC, the Times giveaway, quoted some things Ray had said lately about the record business, and then played "Jukebox Music," a track I don't think I've ever heard on the air before. Thanks, Meg!!!

back in the early 70's i kept a list every time I heard a kinks song on the radio, and i still have the list...many many pages filled with what song, the date, and what station...brings a smile to my face to see songs like Supersonic Rocketship Money Talks, Top of the Pops Starmaker, played on WNEW FM in NY...when rock and roll radio was still real!

It's been quite a few weeks since I've last heard the KinKs/Ray on the radio. I keep missing my fav DJ's (Frank E. Lee) show on midday afternoons on XRT. He's usually good for at least one KinKy song every day or two! Last I heard was the extended Superman.

Yesterday morning on Q104.3FM/NYC: Apeman & YRGM.
Tuesdays are Two-fer-Tuesdays on Q104, so you get a double shot of whoever is playing.
Apeman was the selection of a listener for "Be Our Music Director" contest. You email a list of 5 songs you'd like tohear and if one of your songs are selected, you have 10 minutes to call to claim your prize of $104.00. the grand prize winner gets $104,000.
BTW, my 5 songs I sent in were:
20th Century Man Complicated Life Compliment (Collective Soul) The Milk of Human Kindness (Procol Harum) One of These Days (Pink Floyd)

Thanks Ms. Smiley.
BTW, guess whose song was selected that very morning at 10AM, but he was still commuting to work and didn't hear his name called, so he couldn't call to claim his $104.00 and be entered into the grand prize drawing of $104,00.00.
I found out that night - my nephew heard my name called (and mis-pronounced) - he called my son who was still sleeping because he doesn't have school on Wednesdays and didn't answer his cell.
Life is sooooooo complicated.
I wish I knew which song they chose to play.

Heard "Superman" tonight on "forgotten classics" a cool radio station in my state. They play a different Kinks song every week, lucky me, I inherited speakers from my predecessor at my job and my boss thinks rock music is cool, played in an office.

I have XM and I have heard The Kinks on a few different channels. I heard Come Dancing on the 80's channel, Shangri-La on Deep Tracks, and most recently I heard VGPS on the Starbucks channel. It is always a nice surprise when they pop up unexpectedly.

Ray was interviewed on BBC radio 2's Radcliffe and Maconie last night, along with Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger. He talked about WMC and they played Come Dancing and Sunny Afternoon from the Electric Proms session. Don't know how long the link will last www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/radcliffemaconie/(under chat highlights)
