Holly, this is absolutely tragic. Those boys did a stupid and reckless thing - I can never understand why people commit these pointless acts without any regard for how it might impact on others I will keep Marian in my thoughts too Holly, as well as you. I hope Marian's condition will be stabilised soon and that she's go on to make a full recovery. When someones condition is described as critical I know from expieriance that its unbelievably hard for all those concerned. Please take care Holly. X

Thanks so much for all your good thoughts. I talked to Marian's husband this morning -- he's just devastated. They've sent the kids to live with friends for a while, to try to keep up some kind of routine. If she does recover, it'll be months in brain trauma therapy. It's just a senseless tragedy.

Oh Holly, what a terrible thing for those poor children to have to deal with I'm not suprised Marian's husband is devastated. I'm sure you'll be doing your best to be a supportive friend to him.

I'm sorry to hear this. What a terrible time for her husband and kids. It's good the kids will have a routine and maybe good for dad to have some space to process all this and try to summon the strength to go forward; but probably just means he'll be at the hospital every second he can. I'll pray that Marian does get that chance to recover even though it would undoubtedly be a long and arduous process with uncertain results.

Thanks so much. I haven't heard any updates -- they may have decided to leave her in the coma for awhile to give her brain tissues a chance to stabilize. Every day she survives improves her chances of long-term survival. Her condition is now being reported as "stable" though still "critical."
