I have noticed that many of my favourite songs by my favourite artists aren't ones that weren't "hits" or high profile songs. Here's some examples:
Neil Young - Campaigner Alice Cooper - Halo of Flies David Bowie - Bewley Bros. or Sweet Thing (can't decide) The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Anthem Jimi Hendrix - Have You Ever Been (to Ladyland) The Beatles - You Can't do That (maybe not my favourite, but top five) Led Zeppelin - Bron Y'aur Stomp CSN&Y - Almost Cut my Hair
Rarely have I hear them played on the radio.
Others out there have a similar experience?

"Ballad of Dwight Frye" is probably in my top five Cooper songs. ...oh, and do you mean "Little Miss Lover"? I'm not even familiar with those Stones songs - I only listen to Beggars Banquet to It's Only Rock'n Roll. I don't have their earlier albums anymore.

always liked Ballad of Dwight Frye too...but also Caught in a Dream, and Long way to go...and from the 2nd album Action it is " Return of the Spiders " and how could I forget Sun arise Love it to death over all is my favorite of theirs, a few bands I was in covered a lot ofstuff of that and Killer too...( plus I go to see them live a few times during that period...once a greatlive band but when that line up broke up it was never the same or anywhere even close as good )

Did you know that Laugh at Me is a Sonny Bono song? "almost anything" is cheating... ;D

This is a very cool idea for a thread. LIttle Miss Strange is a Noel Redding song on Electric Ladyland. Child Of The Moon was the B side of Jumpin Jack Flash. I think Sad Day was on the Whos Driving Your Plane single.

Please Crawl Out Your Window was the single released after Like a Rolling Stone. It was mislabeled 'Positively Fourth Street' in the first pressing, I had one, it is now lost and is worth a mint. Great sounding cut from '65. Dylan rushed out '4th St' as a rumored attack on his critics who left him for changing to electric and it got put on all the albums and compilations. Hendrix covered 'Window'. Make sure you get the original version, not the one on 'Biograph' which has the same words in an alternate take, my son got me my version before Napster went down about 10 years ago. Child of the Moon is my favorite Stones B Side, along with NO Expectations. They were released back to back 40 years ago and still stand up.
