April 3, 1974, was in the Playhouse, and Elliott Murphy was the opening act, saith the gospel according to Hinman.
They also played Hofstra Playhouse Dec 8, 1975, with Steve Harley &thingyney Rebel opening. May 4, 1977, was in the Playhouse also, again with Elliott Murphy
April 30, 1990, was in the Physical Fitness center, a free concert for students only, with Janata as the opener.
PS to Frank -- the Lennon story, the Jim Morrison story, all the Ramones stories go in too!

It concerns hanging out at David Peels apartment ( which was right around the corner from the Filmore east ) in NYC, and John showing up unexpectedly when John was producing David's " The Pope Smokes Dope " album for Apple records and my friends band from high school Elephants Memory was John's backing band...

Like I siad -- I was in an herbal-induced haze. I had only seen 2 shows at the "acoustically perfect, 994-seat" Hofstra Playhouse - one was the Kinks/Schoolboys show and the other was Procol Harum (for their Exotic Birds & Fruit tour).

You may be right about Elliot Murphy playing twice, but I am positive he was the opener for the April 3, 1974 show, and I can't remember who was the opener the 2nd show, and again I think you right again about that being a 78 or 79 show. I can't remember which ones were in the gym or the playhouse. I think the first one was the gym and the 2nd was the playhose, not sure about the 3rd at all though. btw I was not one of those holding my ears for Elliot, I thought he was pretty good, but I may not have seen him the 2nd time if he opened, I was probably causing trouble somwehere ;D ps to Ilses..and don;t forget my John Lennon story too! OK.. I think I forgot THAT one In 1979 CHGO, we got HERMAN BROOD and his WILD ROMANCE as an opener.. gads.., they stunk! 1978 was Warren Zevon. One of my favourites!!! LOLA is on the radio right now.. how original!

I remember that album, and enjoyed John's time with Elephants Memory. Some Time In NYC is a favorite of mine.
