Tim just informed me that Merle Haggard has passed away at 79; on his birthday.

The working man's picasso of songwriting is going to be sorely missed. I know he went out with a #1 country album in a duo with Willie so that was fitting. It's amazing, but Willie is about the last one left of that vintage.

Like Johnny Cash,he is a legend. Merle certainly proved that the American Dream is very real, and that hard work pays off.
