Hi, my name is Justine and I'm new to the board.
Just wanted to share my experience with you. I have been chatting with Dave on Facebook over the past three years or so and he has been very supportive of my music and we have become good buddies.
I really wanted to see him last Friday in Norfolk, CT, but the tickets were almost sold out and I'm on a tight budget and I wasn't sure about making the trek over there after work. I got a message from Dave asking if I wanted him to put my name at the door plus one and that he would look out for me. How could I say no? I told my boyfriend and we rushed to the venue. When we got there the show had started so we made our way to the box office and I said that my name was on the list. They looked at me like I had two heads and asked my name. Sure enough I was on there and I was so pumped! We headed to our seats in the back of the orchestra section and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Dave was wonderful and the band sounded great! We thought the encore songs were smokin'!
After it ended I knew I had to find him to at least say hi and thank him for everything. Long story short, they weren't letting many people back there. A nice lady went down to talk to Dave and came back to tell me that he wanted to see me. Only 5 of us that were waiting were allowed to go backstage. I couldn't even get my boyfriend back there!
She led us down to the dressing room and I waited in a little line to see him. He was talking to some other people but when he noticed me he started winking and nodding. He's a riot! When it came my turn he gave me a huge hug and asked me how my drumming was going (he had voted for me in a contest recently) and asked when my band was recording next (it turned out we were booked for studio time the next day!) and we took a bunch of photos together. He signed my Rock Bottom CD and gave me another hug. The 2 minutes I was supposed to be down there turned into 20 or so! I couldn't believe it. He wished me luck with my band and I made my way back to my boyfriend. It was such an amazing and surreal experience.
The next day Dave sent me a message saying that it was lovely to meet me and we talked about singing a song together next time! He is the best!
Here are some pics of us hanging out:
