I think I was the one who voted for my favorite local band (late 70-80's) SHOES! Great Power-Pop foursome from Zion, IL about 40 minutes north of Chi-towne. They had a string of minor FM hits and video play on MTV. Their "Boston" influenced guitar sound and flawless, brotherly harmonies made them stand out from the crowd. I heard "Tomorrow Night" the other day on WXRT, brought back some great memories... ;D ;D ;D It´s good to read this. Now I´m know someone more than myself who likes them

I actually met them once, Lennie. Really great guys. They signed a press kit for me! I'll have to dig out the prints and scan them. I read on a website they are still making music!

The pie were great in their day..saw them quite afew times live and I attribute a percentage of my hearing loss directly to them ...Their early albums especially were quite good...As Safe as yesterday their first and least commercial still may be my favorite though. They still had some of the Small Faces sound on that one...

Humble Pie were a great band; I don't know if they were underhyped because in the US they drew pretty well. Their live album and Rock On are great must-have LPs. Marriott and Frampton were one of the best early dual-rig British bands, along with Wishbone Ash and Thin Lizzy.

XTC was pure genius. Andy Patridge is like Lennon and Macca combined with a snide order of Noel Coward. After 25 years, I remain gobstruck at this band.
