For those of you in the UK, Ray will be on the One Show tonight, BBC1 at 7pm For the second time today, thanks to Dave Emlem for this info, I had no idea he was on and I wouldn't normally be watching this show. Apparently they will be asking him about his new releases (BBC/Best Of sets) and his performance at the Olympics closing ceremony.

My pleasure 16 I hope you enjoy it - I did! BTW, Ray also did a great interview on BBC Radio 2 today, I'm not sure if there is a link available so you can listen to it again, but if there's any links available I'm sure they'll end up on Dave's site at some point soon. (I also posted a bit about it on the What Are You Thinking... thread.)

I'm pretty sure Ray must hate having to do all this promo stuff but I bet he didn't mind having to share a sofa with the GB women's hockey team! One of them was a Kinks fan too I don't know if the BBC makes any money out of these "at the BBC" recordings; I'm sure they must because he's doing a lot of BBC stations.

Yes Chris, I thought it was cool that one of the women in the hockey team was a Kinks fan! I'm really enjoying reading Ray's interviews, listening to them and seeing him on TV lately - even if he isn't! He did a great interview on BBC Radio 6 today (I posted about it in the 'I Heard The Kinks On The Radio' thread.)

Thanks, I'll check that one out. I don't know if it's happened in recent years but I think it would be really nice to have Brian Matthew interview Ray. I've just checked on wiki and he's still alive (he's 83!), and he still does "The Sounds Of The 60s" on Saturday mornings on BBC Radio 2. He's the guy you hear introducing and talking to the Kinks on all those Kinks BBC recordings from the 60s.

Chris, Ray mentioned Brain Matthew in his interview today! I don't know if there any links to the interview but I wouldn't be surprised if one pops up on Dave Emlen's site soon. I alway think he sounds quite well spoken on those Kinks BBC recordings

Oh yea, the one who says 'Nice Noise' after ''Love Me Till the Sun Shines' fades out!

Oh yea, the one who says 'Nice Noise' after ''Love Me Till the Sun Shines' fades out! That's him And that version of Love Me Till The Sun Shines is magnificent. The album version is great, but that BBC recording is ... well, Something Else! I was lucky enough to see Ray at the Roundhouse a few years back do Shangri-La and that was very special for me. Next on my list would be a live version of Love Me Till The Sun Shines. I guess I have to hope to see Dave perform it solo.

I haven't listened to it in a little while John... I seem to think the last time I did was on a road trip to one of Ray's shows - I'll be sure to listen out for that next time I play it!

When I first heard the BBC version, I was blown away and marveled at how modern it sounded for what,,, early 1968! The album version is great, but that BBC recording is ... well, Something Else! I guess I have to hope to see Dave perform it solo.Chris, I'll raise a glass to you seeing Dave play just that tune! Sleepy, I think you'll get a chuckle at it to! Maybe that's why the Kinks kut a tune called Noise for State of Confusion! PS: I know 'Noise' is a bonus track on later cd remaster issues of SOC but I believe it was on the first cassette version of the album I bought it 1983!
