The Word Magazine have a 6-pages feature about Ray including an interview. Does anybody know if I can find somewhere online? Or can somebody post it if they own the magazine?

Ovi, I looked for this magazine at the supermarket today, I found the Word but it had Noel or Liam Gallagher on the cover (I forget which) so I guess this copy is not available now Have you thought about looking for a copy on eBay? Sorry but I don't know where you can read it online

Last week, on the 13th of June, I asked my friend in Banbury to get me a copy. Today I got an email from him saying, "I've got a copy for you!"

That was nice of him Tourist I was disappointed that I was too late to get one. I must say that the caricature of Ray creeps me out slightly though!

Well I can guarantee that the pictures inside are far nicer as I got a copy today! I convinced myself that it was no longer available as I looked for one not long back and it wasn't Ray on the cover. But somethimg made me look again today and I found one copy right at the back of the magazine rack. I plan on reading it today, I'll take some photos of the Ray related pages inside so you can all have a nosey

That's ok I'm not the best photographer but I'll try my best. I'm not saying I can make the article readable with my photos but you should be able to make out some of the larger quotes in bold type and the pictures of Ray.

As promised I've taken some photos of the article. I just read it with a cuppa and it was a really good read. Here are photos of the interview pages in order - I did my best with the photos and think some of it appears to be pretty readable but in case you don't have the patience to persevere here are a couple of things I thought I'd share - -Can you still find that same thrill? Does Music affect you in the same sort of way?-Yeah. I think I've got enough now for a new record. In fact, I've got enough to do three albums without writing another note. Ray also mentions in the interview that he's going to be writing an opera next year, and a new book! How exciting! Oh, and the opening lines of the article amused me ;D I'm not saying Ray is an awkward bugger but..... ''Our interview is planned for 5pm at a cafe in Highgate. No, hang on; it's for 2pm at Konk Studios. Oh, no, wait, it's for 6.30 back at the same cafe. Or maybe a bit earlier? At one point, as exasperation levels reach critical, word comes back from his management that Universal will pay for a babysitter if all this to-ing and fro-ing threatens the delicate balance of my childcare needs. That, it has to be said, is a first. Eventually we all agree on a time and a place and there we are, in the back of the cafe, when Ray walks in, takes a look around and, after all that, decides he would rather do the interview on a bench in the square..'' ;D Dear Ray, you are too funny!

A really good interview. The reporter had done her homework and asked intelligent questions. She gave Ray plenty of opportunities to wax philosophic -- something he loves to do!
I love his description of the early gigs in the North, where the management had to lock the band in the dressing room so they wouldn't get hurt in the melee after they left the stage. And the Rolling Stones -- "a nice, polite band." The Stones love to project this ruffian image, but the Kinks were the real ruffians. Ray is proud of that!

Yes, it IS awful. His eyes are too close together! Being an artist myself, that was the first detail I noticed. If you don't get the eyes right it looses the entire effect of the caricature. The eyes are WAY too close.. it makes him look sinister and creepy. Thank you very much for sharing this great article. Although I wish they could dig up some photos we've never seen a million times already!
