Excellent Longview, Vertical Horizon picks Tim! Jeff Buckleys versions of Hallelujah is very beautiful, indeed PC! Speaking of Embrace, this tune by them seems to leave me feeling optimistic after hearing it! I almost posted this one, glad you did!

This is a modern power/indie pop tune that always leaves me feeling optimistic and the classic 70s folk pop band America later covered it with Nada Surf playing with them.

Tim, I ordered The Beggars CD. I really enjoy that Lovely Soul Detonator cut on the forum CD!
John, ANYTHING by Blondie is inspiring! Debbie H was/is quite a sweetie!

I take the term "inspiring" very seriously. I'm looking not just for mood lifters, but for songs that help me chart a better course in life.
And even though I have never needed a 12-step program, I have to cite the great John Hiatt AA anthem, "The Tiki Bar Is Open."

The Beggars cd is a great choice uncleson; one of Tim's finds in the mid 90s ! I'll admit as indicated by my grin that I was being a bit silly about the Blondie tune as that song often plays around here before a big game. When I was quite younger , it did inspire me when I made like I was putting on a game face or something as if I was playing myself ! Kudos to Tim for starting this thread and laying some substantive parameters. There have been many amazing contributions here and I'm proud of most of my own! This one is probably the most inspiring country song to me recently!

Good choice on The House That Built Me bro! Here's one of my all-time favorite songs, so simple yet so profound.

And even though I have never needed a 12-step program, I have to cite the great John Hiatt AA anthem, "The Tiki Bar Is Open." r That's a good song! I was surprised by the mention of Dale Earnhardt. I take this seriously too, all the songs I've posted have helped me make it through tough times, when I could otherwise have quit. The thing is, different things inspire different people, so to me all entries to this thread are valid. John's picks have been especially impressive to me, as they relate to faith and the struggle of life.
