As I've mentioned I currently only have a The Very Best Of ELO (until my set arrives!) this song is on the comp and its definately one of my favourites so far - such a great song!

John, Sleepwalker: BRUCEThe ominous "Bruce" does not exist at all! Fact is that the Electric Light Orchestra recorded their great "Discovery" album 1979 in Munich, Germany. "Don't Bring me Down" was the last song that Jeff Lynne had written in a very short time for the LP. He felt that he still needed to add a rhythmic tune to the album. While rehearsing and partly recording "Don't Bring Me Down" late at night, the sound engineers and technicians left the studio one after another addressing to Jeff a friendly "Gruss" - the English equivalent is greeting. Jeff thought: "Well that's sounds good, I'm going to include it in the song". What he also really sings is "Gruss", the German Word for greeting, and not Bruce!

Like the annoying clerk/waiter etc on Sanford and Son used to say, 'I didn't know that'! Thanks for that great info Martin! I'll sing along with 'Gruss' when I hear that song for now on! And it's all because of 'U2"!
