Here's one that immediately came to mind but there is not a vid with the single mix of the song. This is the closest I can find but there are some naughty words left in! This appears to have all the important aspects like the mop fencing, dribbling through the legs with boots on, the exploding swamp mobile and many more ! Ch - Check It Out - Beastie Boys

They were always a bit witty cheesy in their vids! Here's the one that introduced them to the world when I was a senior in high school! This one took 'pied face' to a new level! I was surprised to just learn that Kerry King from Slayer played the solo on this! Not quite Eddie V Halen on Beat It but pretty cool!

Here's one where the original video was put to the music of one of the extended mixes that was prevalent of the song!

Cheese and it's quite edible! I Eat Cannibals - Total Coelo Yikes, john! That's a blast from the past. I have to admit that at the time I didn't appreciate the campy nature of this video, but it is kinda funny now. Honestly, this is the stuff that drove me completely away from popular music for a long time. They do have nicely matching band uniforms, however... and I remember them as Toto Coelo (it seems they changed their name when they came to the U.S.)

Bub, that's one most familiar to me as a tune on one of those old K-tel tapes; I think Cool Places by Sparks and the Safety Dance might have been on that one ! I might have heard it 2 times on the radio; I see that it squeezed into the Top 70! The video was a recent 'discovery' for me. I read that the band changed their name to Total Coelo as not to get confused with Toto so you had a great memory about that! The most interesting thing about this footnote in history to me is that one of the singers formed a band called Cherry Bombz with members of Hanoi Rocks, a very influential pseudo glam hard rock band with respected chops! Yep, I actually read up on this troupe just now! Glad you found a nice fashion statement herein!

I liked the original Dixie Cups cut of this tune in the mid 60s and bought the 45 by the Belle Stars in the late 80s! This cut became a hit after the band had broken up after it was resurrected in the film Rain Man! I read that this band came from the remnants of a 2 tone ska band called the Bodysnatchers! I never saw the vid in it's time!

Here's a fairly recent one that had a lo fi approach, whistles, and animated video that became a sort of sensation; especially on the tube!
Young Folks - Peter Bjorn & John

Ch - Check It Out - Beastie Boys I wish that I could find a vid with the single mix of this song that used to play on MTV/etc. in light of the fact that Adam Yauch, the main mc, has just passed away of cancer at 48. I never even bought one of their records, but they hit with 'You've Gotta Fight For Your Right to Party' when I was a senior in high school and I heard some of their rap rocking songs playing on car stereos etc and admired their wittyness! I did really dig some of their more rock oriented stuff in the 90s like Sabotage and I loved a vid where they show up in an apartment, set up some equipment, and start freestyling. Really inventive guys!

Thought I'd revive this thread - with some Weird Al! This is AL's parody of Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues" (the first rap song ever). Al uses only palindromes in this song.

That video is hilarious, John! I'm glad you pointed out the use of palindromes, not sure I would have caught on to it immediately...

Glad it gave you a chuckle too! 'Madam I'm Adam' kind of caught my eye but I didn't really think 'all palindromes' until watching it again and looking for them! Thanks Tim for posting! PS: You really realize how hard that was when you try to write an original one! Here's the first I could come up with that was 'somewhat' sensical. 'Not A Bat So Stab A Ton'
