Amy Rigby, Bonnie Raitt, Kirsty McColl, Patti Smith, and Kate Pierson. Lulu and Dusty, of course, and (although I wouldn't necessarily say they rock out) Zooey Deschanel and Jill Sobule. Also, you know know who I really like? Remember Dana Fuchs, who opened for Ray here in New York a couple years ago? She had a great Janis Joplin sorta vibe.

Kait Pearson of the B-52s, Siouxsie Sioux, Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan... plus, I also thought Natalie Merchant, originally of Fine Young Cannibals, was an awesome singer.

Yep, I mentioned Shirley earlier Martin ! Patty Smyth has a powerhouse voice but I wish she'd had more powerhouse material after she left Scandal !  Checkout Kelly Johnson of Girlschool for beauty, pipes, and the guitar chops to hang in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal alongside their champions, Motorhead and Priest! May she R.I.P. ! |
