Thanks martin!
Yes, The Kinks have always been ahead of their time.
In fact, if you look in on the Dave Davies board youll see I started a thread about Daves AFL1-3603 album. Like Two Worlds, the more I hear it, the better it is. Ray, The Kinks and Dave, have all been leaders! You know I like The Stones, but I dont see Mick or keith out there touring, or making great solo albums as Ray has been!

Seconded, Friedom, thank you for bringing it up! NEKTAR's "A Tab In The Ocean" was a masterpiece when it came out in 1972. It was a worldwide success and the song "King of Twilight" was covered by Iron Maiden as a B side on their 1984 single Aces High.

Hi Martin ! Many thanks for your congratulation message, i really appreciate, especially coming from "our Chairman"! (mdr!) Beeing Swiss, i'm quite sure you know a greatr musician called ANDREAS VOLLENWEIDER. I am aware he cannot be classified as a rock artist, but most of his albums are masterpieces, mixing up all types of musics ( classical, rock, blues etc..) and having had the chance of seeing him on stage ( he only came once to Paris) , the variety of instruments is incredible, some of them probably having been manufactured upon his musicians' requests I do not wish to compare The KINK's music and his, but think he can classified as a very good opera composer! Have nice day Dom

Good morning friedom! Yes, I'm quite familiar with Andreas Vollenweider's music which has been categorized as World Music, Jazz, New Age and even Classical. The Zurich born Andreas Vollenweider is a multi-instrumentalist, but his primary instrument is an electrically modified harp of his own design. Excellent albums are "Caverna Magica" (1983), "White Winds" (1985), "Down To The Moon" (1986) and "Midnight Clear" (2006) which is a collaboration with Carly Simon. In the past Andreas Vollenweider collaborated with Bobby McFerrin, Carly Simon, Djivan Gasparyan, Eliza Gilkyson, Luciano Pavarotti, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Carlos Núñez, Ray Anderson, Milton Nascimento and many more! I'm pleased that you know Andreas Vollenweider - and, of course, that you visit our forum regularly! Have a great day, my friend! Martin

Thanks for your reply Martin, I do have all his albms, and i am often struggling to find them in Paris, and order them through local friends i have in Switzerland! I like a lot a 2CD which are live music called i think Andreas Vollenweider and friends, great interpretation! On an other side, i like also another swiss bluesman called HANK SHIZZOE and i have been exchanging some mails with him as he never comes to France, but is touring throughout rest of Europe. He has told me that taxes which have to be paid to the authorities in France are far too high! I will probably go to Switzerland later this year just to see him alive! Do you like his music? Have a nice evening Dom

Great, friedom! My favourite of Andreas for the time being is his outstanding double album "Air" which came out in 2009! What a beautiful collections of songs! Timeless! Hank Shizzoe, the Swiss root-rocker, is familiar to me though I never had the opportunity to see him live. I might change that! Have a nice evening, Martin

Hi Martin! As regards to the album AIR, i've got it but it's not a double one! am i missing something?? The only double album i've got is one including a dvd called STORYTELLER Let me know the one you are mentioning and i will try to find and acquire it.
as regards to THE KINKS, i have been looking on the market for a dvd of one of their concert, not a dvd showing video clips of their recordings. I have had no sucess so far, but wonder is they exist? Do u know of any concert of The Kinks on dvd? As regards to Hank Shizzoe, my advice is for you to acquire a double live album called Hank Shizzoe and the Directors live in Motown 2009
Have a nice day Dominique ( my name)

Hi Dominique I'm not familiar with the artists you and Martin have discussed... but regarding a Kinks DVD of concert footage, try the excellent 'One For The Road' - you certainly wouldn't regret buying it! You'll find it on any Amazon site, I'm sure

Andreas' "Air" is a double album. The first CD contains 13 tracks, whereas the second CD includes "All The Shakin'" feat. Xavier Naidoo and "Air Dance" (Instrumental). Thanks for the input regarding Hank Shizzoe, I'll check that out! Regarding the Kinks live music concert DVD's "One For The Road" with comments from Dave Davies is a must to have. Apart from that there are numerous live music concert DVD's which you may find on ebay or amazon. What I can recommend to you are "The Kinks Live Rockpalast" (1982) and "The Kinks Live In Frankfurt" (1984). I own these DVD's, they show the band at their peak! Great and fiery performances! Have a great day, Martin
