YAY Holly! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I think the ship thing took me back to the last time I was on one similar to that back in the late 90s; but there was no great concert like this! I like the idea of a small, knowledgeable (on the band), and ready to have fun crowd!
I caught one of their vids on MTVU back in March. Tim looked them up on youtube and told me some of their other songs were even better. As of then, they did not have an album out. I looked them up a couple of weeks ago and saw 'Hills End' was out. I found this clip on youtube and was wowed, and I had to buy the album. I think we'll be listening to it in a listening party if my dad gets to feeling better; had a sudden strike of his recurring illness and he was doing great just mid week!

Patti Scialfa - Lucky Girl
One of the finest songs ever written with the great Mike Campbell on guitar.

Here is a gem from the first Nuggest: Original Artyifacts boxset; a garage rock band that hailed from Chicago, The Lemon Drops.

There was a UK movement in the later 80s of underground buzzrock bands with blonde female lead singers (The Blondie brigade) that featured The Primitives, Transvision Vamp, and The Darling Buds. The Primitives were commercially (4 major Modern Rock US Hits) and widely regarded critically (include me among the cadre of followers) as the best of the lot. The Darling Buds were certainly contenders (2 major US Modern Rock Hits), most notably their 2nd record 'Crawdaddy'. Tim was kind enough to load on to youtube his favorite song from that album (see below), which was not one of the singles. I'm listening to The Darling Buds Crawdaddy currently as I just got it in the mail!!!
I'll be uploading some of their official videos here soon!
I just wish Tim could regain his upload access so he could put more lost classics on the tube like The Beggars and Tugboat Annie stuff he did, among others.

I hope our friend Sleepy checks out these Darling Buds videos and the DMA's concert footage video on the prior page as I think she'd really like them! This was the Darling Buds smash hit in the US Top 5 of the Modern Rock chart. It's not as 'buzzy' as the rest of Crawdaddy. Crystal Clear - The Darling Buds

Here is one of my favorite indie rock tunes from this year. I can tell this band has ska and pop punk influences on their other songs but this song reminds me a little of Smash Mouth. It's a tune about the perils of being a broke indie artist with some hilariously self deprecating scenes; and features the hot girlfriend of the lead singer who has a cool poker scene to win back 'the guitar'. I think you might like this one if you check in Sleepy! Sikka Takin' The Hard Way - New Beat Fund

A delectable slice of Britpop!
Step Into My World - Hurricane #1
I started off a recent alt pop cd with the above followed by this nugget from the mid 00s
Waiting For the Sun - The Shore
and this Britpop 'slow burning' gem
Driftwood - Travis

Best Coast has become more straight ahead pop rock since their debut lp Crazy For You in 2010; which was lo fi surf meets girl group rock. Here's one off their latest lp California Nights.

I have been chatting with our old (err young) friend Kinkcan recently on Facebook. He is a huge fan of The Tragically Hip. Lead singer Gord Downie has terminal cancer and the band just recently had their final concert broadcast live all across Canada! 'Bobcaygeon' is my favorite song by the band right now but here is another new favorite!
