In the 3rd week of Sept. I went to Hayward Wisconsin for some fishing with my Dad and 2 brothers. After 3 days of that I left to go on a solo canoe trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Northern Minnesota for 5 days. Here's some pics of the trip.
My goofy brothers. Steve in front and Bobby in back. This pic cracks me up because of the funny faces they made.
My Dad along with the brothers. This was a small side pond we went to and caught no fish.
Here's the great white hunter with a 30 inch muskie. (we released all the fish. Lots of these and some largemouth bass too.)
So I left there and drove to Ely Minnesota where I was caught on the street webcam holding the Ray Davies bumper sticker.
I then went canoeing. On this small creek I pulled over 4 beaver dams.
The trees were about 10 days from peak color.
I made camp on Moosecamp Lake. I did see 2 moose and heard them loudly calling and grunting. Also a couple of loons kept me company.
It rained quite a bit. One night I hardly slept as it poured and thundered all night.
So I packed up and moved a few lakes over where I set up a new camp. Here's what a portage trail looks like. You have to carry your canoe and packs between the lakes. This is called portaging.
Finally the weather broke on my last full day.
The sunrise was spectacular. I used no filters for this shot.
On my way out. A perfect day for paddling.
Next year me and the kid go. And we're THIS close to talking Mia into it.
Anyone care to join us?
