i took a trip on a Greyhound bus recently and all i had to bring to listen to music on was my old Sony discman and crappy headphones, which i brought. you should have seen the looks i got from the college kids on the bus with their shiny, microscopic mp3 players. at one point, i had to change the batteries and i swear i heard someone giggle. i didn't care, though. i'm old school. i don't even own a cell phone.

If you can get along without a cell phone, more power to you. I hate the things. The only reason I ever got one was so that I could keep track of my kids.
I will say, though, that the iPod changed my life. No exaggeration. If I hadn't got an iPod, I wouldn't have started listening to MY music again, which led me to my current life as a floozie. Someday I'll write a whole book about it.

spent the dy listening to Blind Boy Fuller, Moby Grape and of course, The Kinks - finally checking out UK Jive as per the gentle suggestion of other members - wonder why it took me so long, it's a great album.

I think when it came out people had high expectations, knowing it was a Kinks album, and they were disappointed. But if you just listen to it with an open mind, it's mostly quite good, I think. Better than most non-Kinks albums, at least!
